According to reports, Diddy's attorney has characterized the relationship between his client and Cassie Ventura as a 'modern love story'. Marc Agnifilo made the remarks in a recent interview on CBS News, and his comments have drawn the ire of many in the industry, including Cassie's legal team.

The biggest talking points from Diddy's trial were the allegations put forth against him by Cassie Ventura, who accused the rapper of s*xual assault, blackmail, coercive behavior, and manipulation. The nature of the freak-offs described in the lawsuit also shocked many, but Marc Agnifilo has described the relationship of his client with Ventura as complex but ultimately consensual.

While making an appearance on CBS News, the lawyer offered his take on the case by saying:

"The rape we vehemently deny. And I respect that she said that. I don't think the jury concluded that that happened. In terms of the, you know, the drugs and the other stuff … that's what makes it a modern love story. I think they really did love each other. I think she very much loved him and I know he very much loved her, I mean, these are two people who hurt each other, loved each other, cheated on each other"

While Marc Agnifilo has represented many celebrities in lawsuits, the lawyer also described Sean Combs' case as the most high-profile case that he has been involved in. His comments have not sat well with everybody, however, and he has been accused of downplaying the severity of his client's actions.

Cassie Ventura's lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, has been particularly scathing in his rebuke of the defence attorney and has labelled Agnifilo's remarks as a "complete disgrace and affront."

What's next for Sean 'Diddy' Combs?

While Marc Agnifilo's comments may have caused a stir within legal circles, this is not to say that his client got off scot-free. While Diddy was acquitted of the rape and s*x trafficking charges, he is still awaiting a verdict on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

Sean Combs' legal team is hopeful of a just and swift resolution to the case, and lawyer Marc Agnifilo also revealed Sean Combs' upcoming plans in the event he gets out of jail. While confessing about the seriousness of Diddy's actions, he said:

"I think he wants to be a better, more present father than he's ever been. I think he wants to start small. I think he wants to get out of jail, reestablish a loving, present relationship with all of his seven children. He wants to take care of his mother. His mother is she's going to get mad at me, but she's getting older. But she's beautiful and fashionable as always."

It remains to be seen if Diddy's wishes will come to be fulfilled or not, with the rapper still awaiting a verdict on two charges of crime.
