Sean Diddy Combs' former assistant, David James, continued his testimony for the prosecution in the latter's sex trafficking trial on May 20, 2025. James took the stand in the case on May 19, 2025.

He alleged that Cassie Ventura couldn't escape her relationship with the music executive because he controlled her life. On May 20, James made explosive claims that he witnessed Sean Diddy Combs arm himself with three guns in preparation for a standoff with rap rival Suge Knight in 2008.

The former Bad Boy Records employee revealed that he was terrified at that moment and feared for his life. David James recalled encountering Suge Knight while picking up food with Combs' security guard D-ROC at a drive-in diner in LA.

Knight questioned them on what they were doing in his city, and D-ROC reportedly replied, "S–t, man, just out here getting money." One of Knight's men then handed him a gun.

James returned to Combs' place with D-ROC. The former assistant claimed that the Bad Boy Label boss then got into his Escalade with three guns, and they headed back to the diner where they had previously encountered Suge Knight. The Death Row boss had already left with his entourage when they arrived. Shaken by the incident, David James reportedly submitted his resignation letter and left the company in 2009.

James alleged that Sean Diddy Combs travelled with a large amount of prescription and illegal drugs, including Obama-shaped ones

In his May 20, 2025, testimony, David James alleged that his former boss Diddy handled illegal and prescription drugs, including some pills with the face of former president Barack Obama on them. He added that he would prepare every hotel room Combs stayed in with "40 different" cosmetic products.

The witness also said that Combs had a medicine bag with several pill bottles. James recalled seeing Viagra and medication "to increase sperm count, Advil, Tylenol, water pills for losing weight, ecstasy, and Percocet." Diddy also reportedly stocked supplies of baby oil and lubricants in hotel rooms.

In his testimony about the Suge Knight incident at the diner, James recounted how Cassie Ventura cried, begging Combs not to go after Knight. Marc Agnifilo, Combs' defense attorney, asked James during cross-examination why he didn't question returning to the diner with Combs during the Suge Knight incident.

“You didn’t say anything?” Agnifilo asked.

James replied:

"Respectfully, sir, you have someone with three guns in that proximity, I didn’t think I had the option to say something.”

Witness testimonies will resume on May 21, 2025. Diddy's trial is expected to last eight weeks and will not be televised.
