"I am immensely grateful to Lorne for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship."

She further added,

"Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined... and I will always carry those memories"

Alongside Lorne Michaels, she also thanked her castmates, writers, and crew. She said that it was an experience that she will always carry in her heart and that she will miss the show. Her exit comes just before SNL Season 51 starts. That season will begin on October 4, 2025, on NBC and Peacock.

Ego Nwodim's time on SNL and what she did there

Ego Nwodim joined SNL in 2018, for its 44th season. When she started, she was introduced only as a featured player. Then, in 2020, she was promoted to the main cast. She became known for many funny characters. One of the fan favorites is "Lisa from Temecula." Also, the "Miss Eggy" sketch was very popular. She also made people laugh during Weekend Update moments. What happens now, and how are the cast shake-ups?

Ego Nwodim's leaving is one part of the big changes at SNL. Several cast members are leaving ahead of Season 51. These include Heidi Gardner, Devon Walker, Michael Longfellow, and Emil Wakim, in addition to Ego Nwodim. Some writers are also departing.

The show’s creator, Lorne Michaels, said he plans to "shake things up" for the new season. Some cast changes were held back so the 50th season could have more stability. Season 51 is set to begin on October 4.

Fans responded strongly to Nwodim’s announcement. Many said they will miss her work. Some said the show would not be the same without her, and peers also offered good wishes.

Ego Nwodim’s exit marks the end of a chapter for Saturday Night Live. She spent seven seasons helping build many sketches, characters, and moments fans loved. While she moves on, SNL enters a new season with big changes.
