Fortnite drops vibrant Brazil-inspired trailer for new Bruno Mars skin

Fortnite has just dropped a trailer for the new Bruno Mars skin, bursting with Brazilian zest, and it has caused a stir amongst fans on social media. The trailer features Mars' digital avatar diving headlong into the Fortnite battlefield wearing a 'Bruninho' jersey, grooving to "Bonde do Brunão," and embodying the festive spirit of Brazil in all its glory.

Leading up to the official reveal by Epic Games, there had been a lot of speculation about the involvement of Bruno Mars in the next season, though the extent of his involvement remained unclear. Epic Games has now disclosed the details of the singer's participation, marking his second major collaboration with Fortnite, following his earlier appearance alongside Anderson .Paak as part of the Silk Sonic duo.

What led to Bruno Mars' inclusion in Fortnite Festival S9?

Fortnite has made a reputation for itself as a hub of collaborations, and it never fails to rope in celebrities from all spheres of life. Last season, it was Sabrina Carpenter who had wowed the audiences with her moves, and it's now Bruno Mars' turn once again. His pleasant experience with Epic Games from before reportedly also played a big part in this reunion, as he recently shared in an interview with Billboard:

"When they hit me up again, I said, ‘Done! Last time we did this, there was no Fortnite Festival, so this time we get to lean even more into the music. I’m excited that we put a bunch of songs in the game that people can play to"

While praising the developers for getting his body features right, the singer then went on to express his excitement at the prospect of watching his digital avatar:

"It’s very fun seeing myself as an avatar. They really nailed my body proportions — tall, chiseled. It’s uncanny"

The integration of the Brazilian culture is particularly evident in the "Bonde do Brunão" Emote, which will also be available in the game as part of the World Tour Bundle. The timing of the release also coincides with the release of Mars’ song, "Bonde do Brunão," which is a new track inspired by his recent experiences in Brazil. Mars also spoke about this factor in his interview with Billboard.

"That song was a fun idea we put up on Instagram while I was in Brazil, but then it had a life of its own. We had this idea of making it a part of the game, and Fortnite was into it. They went all out with it and got the song, the dance and the outfit."

"Bonde do Brunão" reportedly comes as part of an extensive music track selection, which also includes "Die With A Smile" and "ROSÉ," among others. These will reportedly be included in the Music Pass. Apart from these, the pass will also give fans the Die With A Smile Bruno Outfit, as well as the Die With A Smile (Heavenly Style Outfit), which will be unlockable through progression. These skins will be available until August 26, 2025.
