VTuber Ironmouse announced their recent departure from talent agency VShojo in the past week, amid ongoing controversies surrounding the company. According to the news outlet, Kotaku, Ironmouse posted an 11-minute video on her YouTube channel claiming that she had been "misled" by the talent agency.

She alleged that apart from withholding payments, VShojo had yet to provide her "over $500,000" that she had raised through her "Immune Deficiency Foundation" charity live stream. Following her announcement, other VTubers, including Kson, Project Melody, Kuro, and many others, confirmed their exit from the agency. Shortly after, VTuber Veibei (@veibei) took to her X channel and claimed that in 2023, the agency attempted to sign her into a "predatory contract."

The streamer posted in response to the CEO Justin Gunrun's public post on the talent agency being shut down.

Is VShojo closing? Ironmouse and other VTubers quit the agency

VShojo CEO Justin Gunrun issued a public apology on the agency's X profile, revealing that they had "failed" and "mismanaged the company" on July 24. In the statement, he revealed he would take "full responsibility." He attributed the closure of the company to failed fundraising "efforts."

While Justin didn't take any VTuber's names, he claimed that he had only recently become aware that "some of the money raised by the company was used in talent activity", which was originally reserved for a "charitable initiative" (potentially implying Ironmouse's charity initiative).

Many X users and streamers expressed criticism of Justin's post. X user and YouTuber Ludwig Ahgren reposted the message and noted,

"basically yall had $11 million in investor money you burned through then proceeded to use the money you owed talent (and $500k you owed charity!!!) as runway while searching for a new investor to dupe."

VTubers have announced their departure from the talent agency for multiple reasons, including potential exploitation, unfair contractual terms, and fund withholding. Followers had a mixed response to Justin's claims about being unaware of the nature of Ironmouse's funds.
