"Generous woman to walk this Earth": Richard Branson's son Sam Branson pays tribute to mother Joan Templeman

Richard Branson and Joan Templeman's son, Sam Branson, uploaded an Instagram post on November 25, remembering his late mother after Richard confirmed the news of her passing. It featured a series of photos, from Sam with his mother to family moments with Richard and Sam's sister, Holly.

The caption of the post read:

"Mum you instantly made everyone in your presence feel like all was well with the world. You were the kindest, most loving, warm and abundantly generous woman to walk this Earth."

He continued:

"Thank you for all that you were to me, our family and to everyone who was blessed by your graceful, loving presence. I am so deeply grateful to have had the privilege of being your son and being able to call you mum 🙏🏼"

Sam Branson ended the post's caption by sharing how much he misses her, wishing she could be with him, and saying that she is still around him in spirit.

Joan died at the age of eighty. The news was first made public by her husband, Richard Branson, cofounder of Virgin Group. The couple was together for fifty years. They also had a daughter, Clare Sarah, in 1979, who sadly passed away shortly after she was born, according to People.

Sam Branson celebrates Joan's 80th birthday

Nearly three months ago, Sam Branson celebrated his mother Joan's 80th birthday, where Joan was seen wearing a sparkly gown. The post also featured Richard and Holly. The celebration took place in Morocco.

The caption read:

"Memories from a very fun and soul-enriching few days celebrating my wonderful Mum’s 80th birthday 🎉❤️."

Along with Sam, Richard also uploaded a post for Joan, wishing her well with the caption:

"Happy 80th to my wonderful, wonderful wife. Thank you for being by my side through it all – the highs, the lows, and all those quiet, content, and peaceful moments in-between. These are the moments I cherish the most with you. I love you more and more each year x"

Joan's daughter, Holly, added a number of posts admiring how grateful she was for her mother's love and guidance and how she shapes the way she and Sam parent their own kids. She added:

"If I can even be half the mother that my mum is to me, I’ll consider that my greatest achievement."

Holly works as Chief Purpose and Vision Officer at Virgin and is also the Chair of Virgin Unite. Sam Branson is the founder of Sundog Pictures. Both siblings are founders of Big Change.
