According to a report in The Independent, on May 10, 2025, the pontiff told the cardinals:

“In our own day, the church offers everyone the treasury of its social teaching in response to another industrial revolution and to developments in the field of artificial intelligence that pose new challenges for the defence of human dignity, justice and labour.”

Pope Leo XIV, born as Robert Francis Prevost on September 14, 1955, currently serves as the head of the Catholic Church and the sovereign of Vatican City. He was elected as the 267th pope on May 8, 2025, following the death of Pope Francis, becoming the first American to hold the position, according to CBS News.
