The Slydell family was involved in a carjacking incident on March 11, 2025. The family was in the car near Montgomery Park when a thief tried to steal their car. The event took a horrific turn when the perpetrator shot Donald Slydell Jr., whom fans used to call Brotherchu and who was in the driver's seat. Donald was declared dead by the time he reached the hospital.
After the news was announced, Donald’s sister, TophiaChu, uploaded stories on Instagram to share updates with fans, expressing her grief. She stated in one story,
"Out of respect for my brother, please do not refer to him as Brotherchu. He didn't like that name. He didn't like that name at all. Please, out of respect for my brother. His name was Donald. Please don't refer to him as Brotherchu. I know people gave him that name, but he didn't like that name. And so I ask. I know everyone's trying to be polite and kind."
She added:
"And my mom never liked to be called Mamachu either. I think she might have said you know cause she kind of accepted a little bit. But please, out of respect for my family. Do not refer to my father as Papachu, my mom as Mamachu, or Brotherchu."
