Abraham Quintanilla is known in the industry not only as the dad of one of the most beloved voices in Latin music but also as the one who instilled the foundation of his daughter’s success.Music had been a part of Abraham’s life even before he met Selena, who later became a household name. The father, music producer, and now a father himself at a young age, had once been part of a singing group when he was a young boy in Texas; he later dedicated his life to raising a family of his own. When he saw his kids exhibited musical talent, he employed his own experiences to manage them and bring Tejano music to a wider audience via a family band.Abraham Quintanilla Jr. is known for beingQuintanilla’s parents, Abraham Quintanilla and his wife Marcella Quintanilla, were blessed with three kids. The kids came from a musical background, with parents who were performers, in Corpus Christi, Texas. The firstborn child of the Quintanillas is Abraham “A.B.” Quintanilla III, born in 1963, who later became the bass player in the band formed by his siblings, with a successful music production career later on. Suzette Quintanilla came in 1967, who played the drummer role in the band. Then came Selena Quintanilla-Pérez in 1971; she later etched her way into the music scene with her voice and performance.Under the instruction of their dad, the three brothers formed a band known as Selena y Los Dinos, with A.B. on the base guitar, Suzette handling the drum kit, with Selena as the lead singer. The three brothers had a maager in Abraham Quintanilla, who managed everything from gigs that came via calls to relatives to record deals. The group's Tex-Mex, pop, and traditional music has managed to take root in the U.S. and Mexico in the 1980s, as well as the 1990s.The rise of Selena came quickly: Queen of Tejano Music, top albums, and even more shelves for her awards, including a Grammy in 1994. In her development of a mainstream English language career, her life would be tragically short, ending in 1995 at the age of 23. After his daughter’s passing, Abraham Quintanilla did not hide from the limelight but, together with his relatives, chose to carry on her mission of assisting with movies, documentaries, as well as the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi, Texas. It is a fact that even after his passing, the homage emanating from different parts of the globe has been not only that of a loving father and music nonconformist but a remembered era deeply entwined with his own life’s contributions to the heritage of his daughter. It can be stated that he is survived by his wife, Marcella, and his two kids, A.B. and Suzette.
