''All who attend the funeral are invited to wear something Star Wars in honor of Tanner. Tanner also requested for Star Wars stickers to be placed on his casket.''

On June 25, Tanner Martin announced his own death in a video on Instagram. In the video, he said:

''Hey, it’s me Tanner, if you’re watching this, I am dead. I had a heck of a life. I decided to make this video announcing my death, cause I saw someone did that like a year or so ago, and I think it’s a good opportunity to get all your thoughts out and also you can be thoughtful about what your spouse or your partner may need.''

He continued:

“Thank you for all that you did for me while I was here. And all the support and love that you showed me and my little family. I would ask at this time if you could continue to offer prayers and stuff for my sweetheart Shay and my baby girl Jiaozi."

He also thanked his followers for their love and support in the video. During the funeral ceremony, Tanner's father, Thomas, gave an eulogy, where he spoke about how Tanner had spent some of his final moments, as per People. He said:

''During Tanner’s last week, his brother [Spencer] and I watched with him the original Star Wars trilogy. We watched the trilogy and the Raiders of the Lost Ark trilogy and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.''

He also added:

''He was always just generally happy. He wanted to be everyone’s friend, and he assumed, at least when he was young, that most everyone wanted to be his friend. He was just always switched on to be happy and friendly.''

He also shared another video where he explained that they were setting up a GoFundMe to help with their baby's future financial needs. In the video, he said:

''As a lot of you know, my cancer is terminal, so there's a really, really good chance that Jiaozi will not have any real memories of me, and that Shay could raise Jiaozi all by herself. It'll help replace my income. It'll help pay for babysitting. It'll help for school, for her wedding. All these things that normally Shay and I would do together," he added in the clip. "If I'm gone, it's gonna be really hard for Shay to do on her own."

Tanner Martin was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2020, and the couple posted about his cancer journey on their joint Instagram handle.
