Many on the internet have been pushing for Charlie Kirk to be picked as TIME's 'Person of the Year.' However, Polymarket's latest odds choose the AI as the top contender for this year's title. On the platform, two percent of people placed their bets on the late TPUSA founder. TIME usually announces its 'Person of the Year' in the month of December.

However, it is important to understand that these predictions don't influence the actual pick. TIME's editors finalize the annual winner. In a blog published last year, before the announcement of the 2024 pick, the magazine explained how the winner is selected.

"Since 1927, TIME has named a person, group, or concept that had the biggest impact—for good or for ill—on the world over the previous 12 months," the TIME article noted.

Following the release of Polymarket's November 26 odds, Piers Morgan explored the possibilities on his show. Before kicking off the discussion, Morgan informed us that the first 'Person of the Year' was chosen in 1927. He then consulted with his panel for this year's pick. Morgan also quoted Polymarket's prediction, which was:

  • AI-36%
  • Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang- 24%
  • Pope Leo- 15%
  • Donald Trump- 7%
  • Zohran Mamdani- 3%
  • Charlie Kirk- 2%

On the November 28 episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored, Morgan was joined by guests from different walks of life. cultural commentator Dr. Anastasia Gabriel, movie buff Nerdrotic, and fitness trainer Jillian Michaels, among others. When Morgan asked Irish comedy writer Graham Linehan about his choice for the award, he replied,

"I think it should be Charlie Kirk. I think Charlie Kirk paid the ultimate price for, you know, using his freedom of speech, trusting his audiences, and trying to hear people out and express a version of Christianity that seems to me extremely noble and good... I think he was a wonderful man and he died because he trusted people too much."

Piers Morgan moved to movie buff Nerdrotic for his thoughts on who should be TIME's 'Person of the Year.'

"I think it's a slam dunk. It should be Charlie Kirk. It shifted the culture this year. We saw the reaction to his death, where many of us lost friendships over what we saw people celebrating a man's death," Nerdrotic answered.

When the host asked the American fitness trainer Jillian Michaels about her opinion, she responded, saying,

"I agree completely it should be Charlie Kirk. I think that we've seen just how valuable he was now that he's gone, which is absolutely heartbreaking."

The Critical Drinker picked Sydney Sweeney as his choice for the accolade. Cultural commentator Dr. Anastasia Gabriel, however, agreed with the Polymarket prediction and found AI winning the title a "sound idea."

On November 25, a user posted that Charlie Kirk should be TIME's 'Person of the Year.' Elon Musk backed the idea by responding to the post with a "Yes."
