"I followed my heart": Brittany Renner confirms divorce with rapper Kevin Gates after 52 days of marriage

Kevin Jerome Gilyard, a.k.a. Kevin Gates, and Brittany Renner are divorcing just 53 days after getting married. Renner herself broke the news of the divorce during an interview with Los Angeles radio station REAL 92.3 LA on June 7, 2025. During the interview, Renner revealed:

"We got married April 6 and divorced May 28... I don't feel like it's a sucky situation because what is meant to be is always going to be."

Brittany Renner is 33 years old, and Gates is 39. The influencer did not seem to be upset about the divorce and told her fans that "all is well." Brittany is a new Islam revert and is putting a lot of faith in her newfound religion.

She also added:

"I followed my heart and that's what more than most people can say, and I think when you do that, you get all the clarity you need and there's no stone left unturned and there's no regret."

Brittany Renner shares more about her divorce and Islam

Brittany Renner also believed that the reason why she does not regret anything is because she gave it her all in her marriage to Kevin Gates. She elaborated:

"A lot of people, their issue is, even just in dating, in marriage, it's people just don't give it their all... They don't just go for it. But I feel like when you do, you’re at peace with whatever happens because I gave 100 percent."

Furthermore, she also gave the listeners some insight into her marriage as a Muslim woman. She said:

"There is a 90 day waiting period in Islam, where you have 90 days to see if you’re pregnant because then he would be responsible. But also in those 90 days, it’s for recommendation because the law wants you to stay married. And during those 90 days, you are not to entertain anybody romantically."

She concluded by saying that reverting to Islam has been a good decision for her because:

"So, what I will say is Islam has made my life easier... Honestly, I don’t think anybody gets married to not stay married. So this is a nice 90 day reset, just focusing on myself."

Prior to the divorce news, Renner and Kevin Gates were gushing about each other after they had just gotten married. Brittany Renner told PEOPLE:

"All I can say is, is that I'm with the person that I quite literally dreamed of and to be able to just wake up next to him and spend time with him, even to have him here behind me, it's like so surreal. He's just the most beautiful person inside and out that I've ever met."

Kevin Gates has yet to respond or give his own statement regarding his divorce from Brittany Renner. However, the rapper has not been silent on social media and has posted a few stories. One of the Instagram stories included a video titled "Sleeping With An Aquarius," which is Kevin Gates' zodiac sign. The clip started with:

"Sleeping with an Aquarius is not a casual act, it's a soul encounter..."
