In a dramatic new development that could shift the paradigm of the Tory Lanez case, the rapper has allegedly admitted to taking the blame for Kelsey Harris. The claim has been put forth by podcaster Jason Lee, who has released alleged text conversations with Tory Lanez in which the incarcerated rapper opened up about the incidents that occurred on the fateful night and led to his conviction.
These statements shared by Jason Lee come in the wake of recent developments in the Tory Lanez-Megan Thee Stallion case after new witnesses have reportedly surfaced that have impugned the events that unfolded on the night. In the text messages shared by Jason Lee, Tory claims to have shielded Kelsey Harris from prosecution while sharing his own thought process that led him to take the fall for Harris. When asked about the same, Tory allegedly says:
"It’s honestly a bunch of suppressed evidence that was kept away from me during trial. Like, through trial they keep saying it was inconclusive on the gun DNA, but I always knew I never touched the gun, so I asked my lawyer to retest it. And sure enough… I was a 102% excluded completely, from everything just like I said"
He then goes on to lay the blame squarely at Kelsey's feet:
"I took the rap for Kelsey, never wanted her to go to jail and I never wanted Megan to get hurt or anything, so in me stopping her from getting shot I got the raw deal. Crazy how life works and to think they made me the poster boy for the un-protection of Black women. When in all honesty I protected two Black women"
What happens next in the Tory Lanez-Megan Thee Stallion case?
The timing of the release of the texts also calls into question the details of the events that unfolded on the night that Megan Thee Stallion was shot. Even years after the date of the incident, the details of that night are a bit murky amid constant recantations and statement changes from the parties involved. There was also constant back-and-forth that went on between Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion before the rapper was sentenced to 10 years in 2023.
Although Megan Thee Stallion publicly identified Lanez as the shooter in the summer of 2020, the texts obtained now suggest that Harris was involved as well. According to these claims, Lanez may have been protecting Harris by taking responsibility for the shooting. These allegations also come at a crucial time for the case, right after Tory's legal team came forward with the claim that Kelsey Harris was the one who shot Megan, with their claim reportedly being backed by a bodyguard.
If the claims brought forward by Jason Lee are substantiated in the court of law, it could dramatically alter the face of the case as we know it. Meanwhile, Tory Lanez continues to recover from the stab wounds he suffered in prison, even as renewed efforts are being put in to challenge his sentence.
