Kelly Osbourne, the daughter of Black Sabbath member and heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, has spoken out for the first time since news of her father’s death broke. The family released a statement on July 22, 2025, informing the general public that the Prince of Darkness had passed away:
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family's privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
The TV personality and singer posted on her Instagram Stories on July 24, 2025, saying:
“I feel unhappy. I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had.”
Kelly Osbourne, who had had a tight-knit relationship with her late father, had previously addressed rumors about his deteriorating health. The 40-year-old stated that she had come across an AI-generated video of her father admitting to dying and condemned the creators:
"It has a voice like my dad's, David Attenborough or something, and it starts out saying, ‘I don't need a doctor to tell me that I'm going to die. I know I'm going to die.’”
Kelly concluded in the video that her father wasn’t dying.

Tony Lommi, guitarist and co-founder of Black Sabbath spoke to UK broadcaster about his observations of Osbourne during their last concert together on July 5, 2025. Lommi, told the news outlet that Ozzy Osbourne who had been rendered unable to walk because of Pattinson’s disease was frustrated that he couldn’t perform well for his fans.
“I think he was moved and frustrated as well, ’cause he wanted to stand up. You could see he was trying to get up.”
Osbourne had performed from a throne-like chair and entertained 44,000 fans at Villa Park in Birmingham. Lommi stated that the show was unlike the ones they had done in the past.
The 77-year-old Black Sabbath member added that Ozzy was used to “bouncing around onstage and coming up to him and pulling faces.” He revealed that Ozzy had texted him the day before he died, complaining of tiredness and low energy.
Ozzy Osbourne is survived by his wife Sharon and his six children from two marriages.
