Ariana Grande appeared on the Friday, October 24, 2025, episode of the Shut Up Evan podcast. One highlight of the episode was when the We Can’t Be Friends hitmaker received a surprise message from popular American actress Sarah Jessica Parker.
The podcast host, Evan Ross Katz, announced that he had prepared a surprise for Ariana Grande, knowing she was a fan of Sarah.
“I know you're a huge fan of Sarah Jessica Parker. I was getting ready for today, and I wanted to have some people call in and ask some questions. So I want to bring the icon Sarah Jessica Parker into the conversation,” he said, playing a voicemail from the actress.
“Greetings, Ariana. It's Sarah Jessica, and I have a question... She's so extraordinarily gifted and has, at this point and for quite a while, achieved an authority and a kind of control of her career,” Sarah began.
She continued:
“My A question is when she was little... What did she imagine it would be when she said to a parent, a sibling, a co-worker, or even at a young age, 'I want to be an actor'? What did she think, and what has she come to understand what it means, and how has that... how radically different is it?”
After listening to the voicemail, Ariana Gramde was visibly excited and emotional. She professed her love for the actress and was shocked that Sarah knew who she was.
“I love her so much. What a thoughtful, gentle, and caring question... Sorry, that just totally shocked me. I can't believe she knows who I am,” Ariana said.
In response to the actress's question, Ariana Grande revealed that her childhood perception of being an actress differs significantly from her current experience as an adult. She described her journey as peculiar and noted that navigating the fame that accompanies it can sometimes be challenging.
