Young Thug has spoken out about his controversial jail call leaks in a podcast with Big Bank. The Go Crazy hitmaker’s private conversations about some of his industry mates have now come to light. The artist remarked on singers like Gunna, Kendrick Lamar, GloRilla, Playboi Carti and Future.
On the Podcast, the Atlanta-bred rapper talked about his mental state at the time he made those calls and how he had lashed out:
"These last few days l've been sitting around like, 'What the f*ck was I thinking? You gotta understand my standpoint — I'm locked up, I'm on the phone talking to my girl every day, this the only person I can talk to. I feel like I was tripping, I ain't ever did sh*t like that, I ain't ever pillowtalk with no girl, ever in life."
While Young Thug acknowledged that he had made mistakes talking about his colleagues, he also blamed isolation and his poor mental health. The rapper clarified that some of the conversations on the leaked tapes were ones he had spoken to the people involved directly.
"This sh*t make me remember when I was in jail, this sh*t make me remember those dark a** days and moments I had. Whatever I said, I can say twice, I'm a grown man. And I done said it to every n**** they know that."
More details on Young Thug’s leaked jail calls

Young Thug had quite a lot to say about his industry colleagues while he was in prison from May 2022 to October 2024 in the YSL RICO case. In one recording, the rapper allegedly stated that Kendrick Lamar would never be bigger than Drake because the former refused to collaborate with him:
"Put somebody on! It's okay to run your few hundred M's up, but who'd you help, though?" You're supposed to be a n**** blessing n****s. That’s why these n****s will never be bigger than Drake, EVER in life."
Another controversial leak saw the rapper claiming that he paid $50k to buy fake streams for rapper Gunna:
"I paid for you to have the number one album. You didn’t honestly earn a number one album over The Weeknd, my boy. I paid for that sh*t."
On September 4, 2025, in an alleged conversation with girlfriend Mariah the Scientist, Young Thug called rapper GloRilla ugly and made remarks about her head and mouth:
"Long a** bullsh*t a** wig, skinny sh*t, goddamn big a** head, big mouth… I would not pursue her, like at all… that sh*t ain’t nun.”
He later apologised to GloRilla after receiving backlash for his derogatory words, saying:
“@GloTheofficial first of all, I’m sorry to u for my words, and I honestly don’t think ur ugly at all. I was speaking from jail, just having a hard time with life.. I don’t like bashing girls and hardly ever did. I’m sorry to u, twin.”
