“I wish Cudi hadn’t testified against Puff”: Kanye West shows support for P. Diddy following Kid Cudi’s testimony in rapper’s sex trafficking trial

Kanye West has continued his controversial takes with a comment on the ongoing Sean Diddy Combs trial. The music executive is standing trial for sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

On May 23, 2025, Kid Cudi, who was involved with Cassie Ventura, the on-and-off girlfriend of Diddy from 2007 to 2018, took the stand to testify for the prosecution. The Better Place hitmaker alleged that Cassie Ventura confided in him that the Bad Boy Records boss was physically violent with her.

He added that he broke things off with Ventura because he feared Combs’ reaction to their relationship. During his examination-in-chief, Kid Cudi stated that he believed that Diddy was lying when he said he knew nothing about the former’s car fire incident in 2012.

Kanye West, who has been vocal in his support for Diddy, even going as far as making t-shirts for him, tweeted on May 24, 2025:

“I wish Cudi hadn't testified against Puff. We need to not be locked in white systems. Praying for Puff and his family. Praying for Puff Daddy and the Family.”

On February 7, 2025, Kanye West tweeted in support of Sean Combs:

"JUST FOR CLARITY, THEY TRYING TO MAKE AN EXAMPLE OUT OF PUFF ME AND MY BROTHER HAD OUR ISSUES, BUT THESE WHITE PEOPLE TRYING TO USE PUFF TO SCARE N----S. IM NEITHER SCARED NOR BRAVE; THIS JUST ME."

Kid Cudi’s testimony in Sean Diddy Combs’ trial explored as Kanye West condemns colleague

In his testimony, Kid Cudi claimed that he met Cassie Ventura in 2008 and started dating her in 2011. He added that the Me & U hitmaker had told him she was having problems with Sean Combs.

Kid Cudi shared that he received a phone call from Ventura in December 2011. He reported that the latter was distressed as she told him Combs had found out about their relationship.

He reported feeling confused since he thought Ventura was no longer involved with Combs. After Kid Cudi’s Porsche was set on fire and irreparably damaged, the rapper stated that he reached out to Combs to talk to him.

He described Combs’ demeanor when he walked into the meeting:

“Sean Combs was standing there, staring out the window with his hands behind his back, like a Marvel supervillain,”

Cudi added that he discussed his relationship with Ventura:

“We discussed pretty much the whole story about how me and Cassie first started to date to what it was to how it ended,”

When Kid Cudi asked Combs about his damaged car, the latter reportedly said he knew nothing about it. Kid Cudi also claimed that he met the music executive at the SoHo House in 2015, where the latter pulled him aside and apologized:

“Man, I just want to apologise for everything and all that bull s*it,”

Sean Diddy Combs' trial began on May 5, 2025, with jury selection. Witness testimonies are currently being made. The trial is expected to last for eight to ten weeks. Stay tuned for more updates.
