Cardi B opened up about the joys and struggles of motherhood in a cover story for Billboard. The New York-born rapper, whose divorce proceedings with estranged husband Offset are still pending, described motherhood as having a lot of work.
She also stated that her three kids, Kulture, Wave, and Blossom, “ground” her. The WAP hitmaker added:
"It turned me into a real woman. I was like, 'What makes a woman? Her body? Her cooking?' It's her maturity and her thinking. If I didn't have kids, I wouldn't sacrifice so much."
Cardi B added that she was the “only provider” for her kids:
"This summer, I haven't even put my feet in a pool. I do everything for my kids. I'm the only provider, and you know what? Ain't no complaining about it," she continued. "I love them so much, and they ground me."

Cardi B got married to Offset in 2017, and after filing for a divorce in 2020 and reconciling. Later, the Grammy-winning rapper filed for another divorce in July 2024.
Cardi B told the magazine that her mother was a hard worker and inspired her to work hard for her children:
"If you think when you get rich, you're going to stop working, you're never going to stop working. My mom used to be a freakin' cashier, and she used to work every single day. To this day, I still talk about how hard my mom worked. I had a very rough childhood, but my mom always made sure we ain't go to no shelter."
She added that she wanted her kids to look back at their childhood knowing that she made them comfortable:
"I want my kids to be like, 'My mom made sure I had everything that I wanted.'"
Cardi also opened up about her upcoming album, Am I Drama? Set to be released on September 19, 2025, the rapper stated that part of the reason for the seven-year delay between her debut album Invasion of Privacy and Am I the Drama was her drive for perfection:
“I’m not the kind of person that’s going to lock in in two months and complete an album. I’m very picky with my music.”
