Twitch streamer Emily 'Emiru' Schunk was allegedly assaulted at a meet-and-greet event at Twitchcon on October 18 in San Diego. Amid the ongoing assault controversy, a clip has reemerged of her talking about how her "favourite security guard" was banned from TwitchCon. Recalling the experience from two years ago, Emily noted
"I got a security guard where there was a guy following me around at Twitchcon."
She added,
"he asked him to stop..so he grabbed the guy, but didn’t hurt him..permabanned from venue”
Emily explained that her security guard was "permabanned" for touching the other person. She justified that he didn't even "hurt him" and just "held him."
Fans took to the comment section and expressed empathy for the streamer. One user (@zewmerz) wrote,
"She should 100% sue twitch, over duty of care, breach of duty, and negligence (NIED). This stuff will only stop once they are held accountable, not only the attacker but twitch."
Another user (@onbrandnews) wrote,
"She had the perfect security who made her feel safe and they banned him.. they proceeded to hire rent a cops who couldn’t hold Paul Blart’s jockstrap.she didn’t deserve this."
One fan (@gosuprime022) expressed their frustration and confusion at the security measures. They wrote,
"what the f**k, so her security DID HIS JOB and they BANNED HIM over it? Only to let their security fuck up like today? I'm not a lawyer but can she sue Twitch for negligence? I mean wtf they got rid of a guy who did his job properly, and their security put her at risk?"
Another user (@shittingdotcom) slammed the organizers of the event and wrote,
"Protecting a streamer from a creepy stalker and getting permabanned for it? TwitchCon security is straight up crap. Who's had their own wild con stories?"
