Jessie J reportedly opens up about life after mastectomy and implant speculation

Jessie J has recently addressed rumors about her post-surgery appearance following her mastectomy. The procedure required the removal of all breast tissue as a way of treatment for breast cancer, which led to rumors that the singer had opted for implants to replace the tissues she had lost. Jessie has now put an end to the speculations by denying them.

While appearing in an interview with The Times, Jessie J gave fans an update on the mastectomy procedure, where she was quoted as saying:

"Like, this isn’t cosmetic surgery, it’s a mastectomy. I was able to keep my nipple but it’s all numb now. And when I bend down it looks like I’ve got a plastic carrier bag in my b**b because you can see the wrinkles.”

The singer underwent the mastectomy procedure in June, just months after the breast cancer was first diagnosed. When addressing her body image post-surgery, Jessie J denied that implants were her priority, as she has opted to focus instead on recovery.

Jessie J's mastectomy recovery process has included both physical and emotional challenges. She has been very open in her processing of the emotional component of her physical change, even as she moves through the transition period. Presently, she is in her recovery period, seven weeks since her operation took place.

While the cancer was first diagnosed in April, Jessie shared the news with her fans only a couple of months later. Later, it was also confirmed that out of fear of disappointing her fans, she performed at shows shortly after she underwent 5 breast biopsies. She later shared the news of her cancer diagnosis via an Instagram video, where she was quoted as saying:

"I want to share it with my fans and the people that care about me, and also I’m a sharer. I’ve always shared everything that I go through in my life. Before ‘No Secrets’ came out, I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I’m highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word early. I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period."

Jessie J has had some problems in her journey to recovery, but that has not lowered her morale in these trying times, and she has been keeping the fans posted with her progress. Last month, she revealed that the spread of cancer had been stemmed, and she has been declared cancer-free.

The songstress is currently focusing on her recovery with parenting duties for her two-year-old son and has also announced plans to release new music on August 29.
