Joe Biden, whose full name is Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., has been diagnosed with ‘aggressive’ prostate cancer. The personal office of the 46th President of the United States, announced the news in a statement released on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms. On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone,” the statement said.
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”

Following the announcement, people were distraught and wished the former U.S. President a quick recovery.

The next day after his personal office released a statement to announce his cancer diagnosis, Biden took to his official X account to share a heartfelt message. He posted a picture of himself with his wife, Jill, who was holding their cat Willow. He captioned the photo:

“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
