Kai Cenat met up with NYC Mayor Eric Adams on June 23, 2025, and the Mayor gave the popular streamer some advice on how to host a public giveaway. In 2023, Cenat hosted a giveaway in Manhattan’s Union Square, which resulted in chaos and his temporary detainment by police.
It seems the YouTube and Twitch streamer plans to host another, and this time, he wants to do it the right way. In the one-minute-thirty-five-second clip shared by @FearedBuck on X, Kai Cenat asks the Mayor for advice on planning another giveaway in the city.
Kai Cenat: I wanna know, is there a world where I could ever give back on a big scale, but the right way? I feel like I was on the radar of not being able to do events like that because of how hyped they get. But is there a world where I can run it back?
The mayor gave an example of the recent boxing event, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, held in Times Square, and how the organizers had planned everything with the city’s authorities.
Eric Adams: So let’s look at what we did two weeks ago. We had a major boxing event right in the middle of Times Square. A couple of hundred thousand people were there. They coordinated with the city. We had to write a layout we had it laid out correctly. We do a lot of major events. So now that you see your influence, and what you tried to do on 14th street, you were saying I wanna give back?
Kai Cenat: Yes
Adams: Now that you see your influence, now you have moved to another level. You can’t still do it on the level you did before cos now you are blown up. You sit down with my team, I get the agencies involved. You map out what your plan is, this is what I wanna do, I wanna do something to give back. Now you got the city in alignment to make sure you execute the plan you want.
Kai Cenat: Okay, so there’s a world where I can do it again?
Adams: Without a doubt. I’d love for you. We do it all the time. I’d love for you to come up in the Bronx….
“I just wanna give back to my city,” Kai Cenat says as he meets up with New York City Mayor Eric Adams
The 23-year-old streamer in a meeting with Eric Adams expressed that he wanted to give back to his city again, notwithstanding how his last attempt landed him in trouble with the law:
Kai Cenat: I just love to, I just wanna give back to my city, like I would like to do it one more time. Like, it would be fire if I did it the right way, and I did it one more time for the people, cos that day, I did have good intentions, and I want to do it. Is there a way like
Eric Adams: And that’s why the team said you must have probably had good intentions, you were not trying to do something that was bad. So we wanna make sure your good intentions allows you to do what you’re gonna do.
In August 2023, Kai Cenat held a giveaway in New York after advertising on Twitch that he would be giving out freebies, PS5s, keyboards, microphones, gaming chairs, headphones, webcams and gift cards from a truck. As a result, people turned out in droves, and chaos ensued.
The NYPD activated a “Level 4” response, deploying a significant number of officers to contain the crowd. The streamer was questioned and faced charges of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly. The charges were subsequently dropped after agreeing to a fine of $55,000 and issuing a public apology.
