Reportedly, Lionel Richie’s Beverly Hills home was almost burglarised on August 22, 2025. According to a TMZ report, the Beverly Hills Police Department were alerted to a residential burglary at the We Are the World crooner’s home sometime after midnight in the 90210 neighbourhood.

The police arrested a man named Michael John Bond on suspected residential burglary charges. The media outlet reports that the District Attorney hadn’t filed a formal charge. The 76-year-old musician was home at the time of the alleged burglary attempt.

Investigators report that security cameras picked up the suspect’s images before the security alarm frightened him off. After the officers searched the neighbourhood, 38-year-old Bond was arrested near Wilshire Boulevard and Beverly Glen, a few blocks from Richie’s home.

Representatives of Lionel Richie revealed to NBC4 that the legendary singer was grateful to the police for the quick response and arrest and that no one was injured in the incident.

The four-time Grammy Award winner announced recently that he had extended his Las Vegas residency after his sold-out April shows. A new schedule of shows at the Encore Theatre in Wynn Las Vegas will be played from October 15 to October 25, 2025.

According to Variety, tickets to the show are currently available on different resale sites, but tickets are available for as low as $155 on StubHub.

Lionel Richie also celebrated his timeless hits at the Wynn Centre in April 2025, paying homage to songs like We Are the World. The pop song was recorded by Richie, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, and 43 other music icons during an eight-hour marathon recording session in 1985.

A Netflix documentary about the creation of the iconic song also premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2025, which included interviews with Richie, Kenny Loggins, Huey Lewis, Smokey Robinson, Sheila E, Bruce Springsteen and Dionne Warwick. The documentary also showed new recordings of Richie and Jackson writing We Are the World.

Richie announced in May 2025 that the book tour of his memoir Truly would run from September to October 2025.
