A U.S. Senator has echoed Cardi B's statement about America's alleged skyrocketing cost of living. The rapper recently apologized to fans for urging them to buy her new album while many struggle to pay rent. Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico said she was "right."
Cardi B mentioned:
"I feel so bad because I didn't realize how quickly they raised the rent prices, and I'm out here asking y'all to buy my album and s**t. I am so sorry, y'all, I am so sorry. Like, when I was looking at those rent prices, I was so f**king disgusted."
She also added:
"Just because you don't have kids, they need to make it a little bit easier to get welfare, to get a little something, to get a little help. 'Cause how the f**k are you motherf***ers surviving? Y'all are going to have to sell p***y, d**k, and balls."
Senator Martin Heinrich supported Cardi B's view, saying:
".@iamcardib is right. And it’s not just rent that's going up–costs are rising across the board. From your rent to your groceries to your utility bills to your health care premiums, this administration is making your life more expensive and Republicans in Congress are not doing anything to stop them."
Netizens reacted, noting:
"Meanwhile Nicki came out as MAGA"
Internet reacts to Senator Martin Heinrich supporting Cardi B's comments on the cost of living
Pop Crave took to its official X (formerly Twitter) page to share that,
"Senator Martin Heinrich reacts to Cardi B saying the cost of living is too high: “[Cardi B] is right. And it’s not just rent that’s going up–costs are rising across the board […] this administration is making your life more expensive and Republicans in Congress aren’t doing anything to stop them.”"
Netizens were notably quick to gather under the comments of the X post as they penned their opinions about Cardi B's and Senator Martin Heinrich's statements:
"When Senator Martin Heinrich backs up Cardi B, it’s like the unexpected tag team we never knew we needed in politics and rap. The whole scene feels like a sitcom where the prices keep climbing but the punchline never lands for us at the checkout line. It’s wild that both sides, the administration and the Republicans, seem to be caught in some endless episode of “Who’s Actually Helping Here” while our wallets quietly scream in the background", penned an X user.
"Cardi B out here sparking bipartisan debates again 😂💸 When rap lyrics turn into economic policy talking points, you know inflation’s hitting everyone hard. #CardiEconomics", commented another.
"Cardi B acting like she actually cares about people. hilarious. she is only mad that she has to do her part in society as well.", opined a third.
Others also chimed in:
"Does cardi b know what cuts of living mean?", asked a netizen.
"Well there you have it… CARDI B FOR PRESIDENT❗️ 😌😋", declared another.
"I laughed so hard reading the "Cardi B is right" line it's not even funny 😭😭", shared a third.
Cardi is currently pregnant with her fourth child. It is her first with NFL player Stefon Diggs. She has also been speaking up about parenting and maternal health. She recently partnered with Bobbie as its Chief Confidence Officer.
She runs a campaign named "The B is for Bobbie." During a recent livestream, the rapper stated:
"Breastfeeding takes a lot of time. Some women gotta go straight to work to feed their families. You are not a bad mom for giving your baby formula. You know what's bad? Not feeding your kid."
