$50M lawsuit accuses Smokey Robinson of repeated s*xual assaults on housekeepers

Smokey Robinson and his wife, Frances Robinson, face a $50 million lawsuit from four housekeepers, alleging s*xual battery, assault, false imprisonment, labor violations, and gender violence, among other claims.

According to a report in NBC News, the suit was filed at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on May 6, 2025. The report identified them as Jane Doe 1-4. It further stated that all the women share one similarity, as they all were,

“Hispanic women employed as housekeepers earning below minimum wage. As low-wage workers in vulnerable positions, they lacked the resources and options to protect themselves.”

This was stated to the outlet by one of the women’s lawyers, John Harris.

Robinson’s wife has been named as a co-defendant. The report allegedly accused her of failing to take appropriate action to prevent Robinson’s misconduct and held her responsible for creating a hostile work environment.

The complaint stated that they were “unwilling” to report his actions as they feared of losing their livelihoods and public embarrassment, as well being “threatened and intimated” by his celebrity status.

According to a report in CNN, John Harris, one of the lawyers for the four unidentified women who filed a s*xual assault case against Smokey Robinson, said during a news conference that:

The women decided to sue to “stand up for their rights, as well as the rights of other women.”

The attorney added:

The plaintiffs “want and demand justice for themselves” and that the filing of the lawsuit “is the first step of their journey to achieve that objective.”

Jane Doe 1 alleged that the first r*pe was conducted in March 2023 at Robinson’s Chatsworth Residence. She worked as a housekeeper from January 3, 2023, until February 2024 but was forced to resign due to his repeated s*xual assaults and s*xual harassment against her. In her complain,t she said that the misconduct took place at least seven times, according to a report in CNN.

Jane Doe 2, who reportedly worked between 2016 and 2020, alleged that Robison committed r*pe and s*xual assault on at least 23 occasions. She indicated in her complaint that the 85-year-old would “summon her to either the laundry room or garage, where there were no cameras” before the alleged assaults would take place.

Jane Doe 3 alleged that Robinson alleged that he r*ped her at least 20 times, between 2012 and 2024. She mentioned in her complaint that on one occasion when she resisted his advances, he offered her $500 to allow him to orally co*ulate her, an offer she reportedly refused.

According to the complaint filed by Jane Doe 4, who worked as his former housekeeper between 2006 and 2024, Robinson r*ped her in his Las Vegas home in 2007, and also in his Chatsworth and Bell Canyon homes.

According to NBC News, Robinson was a key figure in Motown Records, He founded The Miracles in the 1950s, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
