After pop sensation Lizzo said on the Just Trish podcast that she "tried" the GLP-1 medication Ozempic before determining it wasn't necessary for her weight-loss journey. The singer, who has actively documented her progress since 2023, admitted to ditching the medication, citing that it was not the most effective means of attaining her desired weight.

While defending the use of Ozempic for weight loss, Lizzo urged critics not to look at the use of the drug as "cheating." She added,

"It's not easy. It's a drug to help somebody with something they're struggling with."

She went on to say,

"I think people—it's their way of being fat phobic when you're telling someone they're cheating."

We look at six well-known persons who have admitted to trying or using the medication based on what they said, the context of their disclosures, and when they did it.

List of celebrities who admitted to trying or being on Ozempic

1. Lizzo

Lizzo told Trisha Paytas in an interview for her Just Trish podcast on June 19, 2025, that she had "tried everything," including Ozempic and other GLP-1 drugs, before opting to change her diet and exercise. She stated:

“Ozempic works because you eat less food… But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it’s the same thing.”

Lizzo aimed to eat whole meals and be mindful of what she was eating.

2. James Corden

James Corden admitted on his podcast, This Life of Mine, on September 19, 2024, that:

“I tried Ozempic, and it won’t be surprising to you when you look at me now, that it didn’t really work. I tried it for a bit and then… I realized that nothing about my eating has anything to do with being hungry. All this does is make you feel not hungry.”

3. Tracy Morgan

During his August 2023 visit to Hoda & Jenna's Today program, comedy great Tracy Morgan said,

“I went and got a prescription, and I got Ozempic. And I ain’t letting it go… It cuts my appetite in half. Now I only eat half a bag of Doritos.”

Morgan quipped on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he "out-ate Ozempic" by putting the weight back on.

4. Terry Dubrow

In January 2024, famous plastic surgeon Dr. Terry Dubrow told Page Six that,

“I’ve tried it. I thought it was amazing. I didn’t have that much weight to lose. But I wanted to try it because so many of my patients were on it and I wanted to see what it was like when you’re not diabetic and you only have 10–15 pounds to lose.”

He said in an interview,

“It’s like the new Botox, Ozempic. I love it. It’s so good.”

5. Kathy Bates

Oscar winner Kathy Bates told People Magazine about her experience with Ozempic during an interview. She said she lost 20 pounds while using the medication, which was in addition to the 80 pounds she lost via diet and exercise. Her key point was,

“There’s been a lot of talk that I just was able to do this because of Ozempic, but I have to impress upon people… this was hard work for me.”

6. Claudia Oshry

Claudia "Call Her Daddy" Oshry made headlines when she declared on an episode of The Toast that,

“You thought they were going to make a weight‑loss drug and I wasn’t going to take it? You’re dumb. Of course, I’m f—ing taking it.”
