Are "Black Henna" tattoos illegal in the US? Nick Nayersina claims the Mike Tyson tattoo he got in Bangkok is starting to "blister and scar and ooze"

Internet celebrity Nick Nayersina seems to have a difficult time with the Black Henna tattoo he got in Bangkok. On November 14, Nick posted a self-recorded video on X and Instagram, where he revealed that his Mike Tyson tattoo caused skin problems. He said:

“Guys, we are in Bangkok. Last night, we went out and for some reason had the great idea of all getting Black Henna Mike Tyson tattoos. I didn’t know that Black Henna is illegal in the US and can lead to permanent scarring and infection on your face. My whole tattoo is blistering and oozing and we just looked up everywhere that there are a lot of people who have gotten this from the same spot that we got it at.”

Nick Nayersina further added:

“And I have had permanent scarring. I might have a permanent Mike Tyson tattoo on my face. It is starting to blister and scar and ooze and I am kind of freaking out but keeping my cool as much as I can right now. I am about to go to Urgent care but this sh*t is no joke. Don’t come to Bangkok and get a Black Henna tattoo really drunk with your friends because it could lead to this.”

Although Black Henna tattoos are not illegal in the US but they are not approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The government body’s official website mentions that Henna is only used as a hair dye, but not to be directly applied to the skin. Injuries from Black Henna have been reported in the past.

Meanwhile, Nick Nayersina has captioned his Instagram post:

“I might be Mike Tyson forever now… don’t mess with black henna.”

Nick Nayersina talks about the beginnings

In November 2024, Nick Nayersina appeared on The Journey Podcast. When asked if he always knew he wanted to do this in life, the YouTuber said he was a shy person. However, once he got comfortable around people, he could take over the room. He added:

“I was always a jokester I was I got kicked out of a few classes took jokes a little too far sometimes but I think this is always what I wanted to do.”

Speaking about his mother’s contributions, Nick Nayersina said:

“I have to credit my mom a lot for that cause I knew I was going to do it but it's like sometimes you need this that little you got to do it and my mom was the one who was like go do it.”

Nick Nayersina explained that before this, he had worked an office job for about eight months in the tech department at a company. He tried to stay positive and support his coworkers, but he found the job really dull and gloomy because people only seemed to care about workplace drama. Every day, he sat at his desk thinking he didn’t belong there.

He remembered seeing someone post online that they needed an assistant. He messaged them right away, showed how excited he was, and asked for a chance. The person told him to try it out and warned him that the pay was only $500 a month.
