On Friday, July 11, Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown pleaded not guilty to two further charges relating to an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub two years ago. In 2023, Brown allegedly assaulted a music producer with a tequila bottle, which added the charge of having an offensive weapon, at a club. He was also charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm at a hearing last month.

During the short hearing at Southwark Crown Court, he denied both charges: having an offensive weapon and assault causing actual bodily harm towards Abraham Diaw.
The assault had left the producer hospitalized with severe injuries. Diaw’s lawyer told TMZ that they are “pursuing all legal remedies to hold him accountable.”
Chris Brown arrested
According to prosecutors, the alleged victim, Abraham Diaw, was standing at Soho’s Tape nightclub on February 19, 2023, when Brown attacked him with a bottle several times. As a result of the alleged attack, he was arrested at the five-star Lowry Hotel in Salford, Greater Manchester, last month.
Brown had recently returned to the UK to prepare for the European leg of his tour. He paid a £5 million security fee to the court after being held in custody for almost a week. A security fee ensures that the defendant will return to court, or else be required to forfeit the money if in breach of bail conditions.
While awaiting his trial, the singer was supposed to reside at his UK address as well as surrender his passport. However, to continue his Breezy Bowl XX world tour dates, a condition was set allowing him to temporarily retrieve his passport only when traveling for performances.

In this case, Chris also has a co-defendant, the rapper Omololu Akinlolu, better known by his stage name HoodyBaby. He has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, connected with the same incident as Brown. Omololu also entered a not guilty plea last month.
The tour began its European leg in Amsterdam on June 8, before heading to cities across Europe, including Frankfurt, Manchester, Cardiff, London, and more. The “Under the Influence” singer’s tour heads to the US from July 30, starting in Florida.
