Kevin Mares' girlfriend, Angy Nicole Arguello, had warned her boyfriend to be careful after he decided to continue partying at a La Perla nightspot following a Bad Bunny concert in Puerto Rico.

Kevin Mares, along with his girlfriend and two other friends, made the trip to Puerto Rico to watch Bad Bunny perform. After the concert ended, Mares decided to head to La Perla nightspot, while his girlfriend Arguello called it a day and returned to their hotel. The nightspot, according to the police, was called 'Shelter for Mistreated Men' as per CBS.

As per the NY Daily News, before parting ways, Nicole warned him and stated,

"Please be safe."

U.S. tourist and veterinary student from New York was shot dead in the San Juan neighborhood. According to the police, he was reportedly an innocent bystander when two people nearby started arguing, and one of them ended up pulling out a gun.

As per NBC 6 South Florida, Mares was shot in the left side of his abdomen and was rushed to a hospital, but died. Two other individuals, both belonging to the island, were also shot but are hospitalized.

Hours before the incident, Arguello and Kevin Mares both had shared photographs of palm trees, resort pools, and clinking glasses with their friends on their social media.

As per San Juan detective Sgt. Arnaldo Ruiz, the shooter, remains unidentified, and the police have "very little information".

New York man who was shot after a Bad Bunny concert's girlfriend, Angy Nicole Arguello, posted an Instagram story, mourning the loss of her boyfriend,

"I love you, my angel."

In another story, she added,

"My love, I love you. I miss you so much. Why, God, did you take him away from me?"

According to a GoFundMe created to help cover the expenses of bringing Kevin Mares' body back home to New York City, he was planning to propose to Arguello in the fall. The couple, both hailing from Queens, had been together for six years.

The fundraiser page referred to him as a

"[...]deeply loved son, devoted friend, and a source of inspiration to everyone who knew him".

It also states,

"His wholehearted kindness, adventurous spirit, and unwavering commitment to a family made him a pillar of strength for his loved ones. Kevin had a bright future ahead, with plans to propose to his girlfriend of six years this fall, and he was always creating memories with those closes to him."

According to the description, the fundraiser will cover the costs of bringing Mares' body home from Puerto Rico to New York, as well as funeral and memorial costs at the Frederick Funeral Home.
