Cardi B in a court verdict on September 2 has won the lawsuit against woman who sued the singer and accused her of assault and battery in a 2018 incident. A California jury found the rapper not liable after former security guard Emani Ellis accused Cardi of attacking her at an OB-GYN office in a lawsuit filed in 2020.
After securing the win, Cardi B, while speaking to the press outside the court, urged her fans and audience not to harass Emani Ellis. As per ABC News Live, Cardi said that she missed her kids' first week and last week of school because of the lawsuit.
"I do also want fans at home though, not to find their (Emani Ellis) social media, her family social media, her social media, and bother her I hope this is something that I leave behind, that she leave behind. Don't go bother her, don't be talking about her, don't be talking about how she looks, don't call her no nasty names. Let's just put this behind."
Cardi B's trial began on August 25 in Alhambra, California. In the 2020 lawsuit against the singer, Ellis had claimed that the rapper "violently, unlawfully, intentionally, suddenly and maliciously" hit her head, face, and body. Ellis also claimed that Cardi B spat on her and used profanities and racial slurs.
However, the rapper had denied the claims during her appearance at the courthouse on Day 2 of the trial on August 26 and claimed that she "never" touched Ellis.
"It's not going to happen" - Cardi B says that she will countersue next time
While speaking to the press outside the courtroom, Cardi B warned that the next time someone files a "frivolous lawsuit" against her, she will not let it go and countersue,
"The next person to try to do a frivolous lawsuit against me, I'm going to counter sue and I'm going to make you pay, because this is not okay."
She added,
"I think people have this misinterpretation of celebrities, like, 'Oh, well, we can ask for this, and they're going to settle...' Don't you ever think that you're going to sue me and I'm just going to settle and just give you my money, that I worked hard for. It's not going to happen."
Cardi B voiced that she doesn't "lay in bed all day" and that she works all day to earn money for her kids and the people she takes care of.
