Marcellus Wiley shared his thoughts on Emmanuel Acho and Joy Taylor being let go from Fox Sports.
Andrew Marchand of The Athletic revealed this Monday afternoon that Acho’s The Facility and Taylor’s Speak were being axed. The news comes on the heels of Taylor being named as a defendant in a lawsuit brought forth earlier this year by a former FS1 stylist.
In the filing, Taylor, 38, the sibling of Hall of Fame defensive end Jason Taylor, was accused of having a personal relationship with her colleagues, specifically Acho and Charlie Dixon, an executive who has since been terminated. Marcellus Wiley surmised that the show axed Dixon's show due to the lawsuit, though he didn't directly address the allegations against Taylor and Dixon.
“The lawsuit is the biggest indicator that this had to happen,” he said in the video. “If you want to sum up what happened yesterday, Fox, FS1 had to get rid of everything Charlie Dixon touched. And I don’t mean that literally.” He added, "Everything that Charlie touched or didn't touch... had to go."
Marcellus Wiley opens up about Joy Taylor's alleged antics at Fox Sports:
In the filing, Taylor, 38, the sibling of Hall of Fame defensive end Jason Taylor, was accused of having a personal relationship with her colleagues, specifically Acho and Charlie Dixon, an executive who has since been terminated. Marcellus Wiley surmised that the show axed Dixon's show due to the lawsuit, though he didn't directly address the allegations against Taylor and Dixon.
“Guilty or not…We can’t sit on Charlie, that grenade is gonna blow up on us,” Marcellus Wiley said.
Marcellus Wiley also claimed that had Taylor and Acho been co-hosting Speak as they were in the past, they might not have been sacked. But with each having their own show, the network had no choice but to make the move. He touted its flailing success in comparison to Colin Cowherd's First Things First, which could have been a contributing factor.
As for the lawsuit, according to The Daily Beast, it was filed six months ago by Noushin Faraji, who accused Taylor of ignoring her claims that she was harassed at the hands of Dixon during Taylor's birthday party in 2017.
She also accused Taylor of assuming the role of moderator on Skip and Shannon: Undisputed because of her affair with Dixon. Furthermore, Faraji reportedly alleged that Taylor would mock her accent, among other things. The former host has since denied these allegations, as seen in a statement to The Athletic:
“The claims set forth against Ms. Taylor are devoid of merit and appear to have been strategically framed to create unwarranted publicity rather than to seek legitimate redress,” her spokesperson told the outlet in February.
Taylor's contract was reportedly expected to expire this summer. However, after the bombshell lawsuit emerged, she was taken off the air for two weeks before she made a comeback, The Daily Beast has further reported.
