Dua Lipa has slammed the Daily Mail for allegedly disseminating fabricated stories about her firing her agent, David Levy.

The UK media outlet reported this week that the global pop star sacked the European agent for allegedly signing a treaty that called on the Glastonbury festival to ban the Irish trio Kneecap. The letter allegedly took issue with the band's support of Palestine, and saw signatures from “top agents from major live music agencies,” per The Guardian.

However, Dua Lipa has since cleared the air about the same via a statement on her Instagram Stories:

"I do not condone the actions of David Levy or other music executives toward an artist speaking their truth. I also cannot ignore how this has been handled in the press. Not only was the story completely false but the language used by the Daily Mail has been deliberately inflammatory, crafted purely for clickbait, clearly designed to fuel online division. It is always Free Palestine but exploiting a global tragedy in order to sell newspapers is something I find deeply troubling."

The alleged drama between Dua Lipa and David Levy explored:

In their original article, a source told The Daily Mail of Dua Lipa's alleged decision to fire David Levy:

“Dua made sure through her people that David Levy wasn’t working on her music any more. She is very openly pro-Palestine and that doesn’t align with David. She views him as being a supporter of Israel’s war in Gaza, and the terrible treatment of the Palestinians and that was made very clear through the letter that he signed and sent to Michael Eavis.”

The letter was leaked online, though, regardless of which, Kneecap performed as scheduled. However, their performance was not livestreamed by the BBC. The band has been tackling allegations that it aligns with the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah as well as the Palestinian Hamas, though it denies these claims. Band member Mo Chara told The Guardian of the alleged letter:

“The fact that the letter was leaked changes things. And I hope that these people regret it. I think they’re already starting to.”

As for Dua Lipa, she has long advocated for a “humanitarian cease-fire” in the Israel-occupied regions of Gaza. During an interview with Rolling Stone last year, she said that she “feel[s] so bad for every Israeli life lost and what happened on October 7th.”

“At the moment, what we have to look at is how many lives have been lost in Gaza, and the innocent civilians, and the lives that are just being lost,” she continued. “There are just not enough world leaders that are taking a stand and speaking up about the humanitarian crisis that’s happening, the humanitarian cease-fire that has to happen.”

Later that year, she echoed her sentiments on Instagram:

“Burning children alive can never be justified,” she wrote. “The whole world is mobilising to stop the Israeli genocide. Please show your solidarity with Gaza.”
