Dr. K calls out Pirate Software on a livestream, as fans react to his clip shared on X on May 3, 2025.
Pirate Software, whose real name is Jason Thor Hall, has once again made headlines only a few months after his World of Warcraft run. This time, the gamer seems to be in a tiff with a psychiatrist and Twitch creator, Dr. K or Alok M. Kanojia.
For context, Hall was booted out of a WoW guild after two members lost their WoW characters, and Pirate was partially blamed by both the players and viewers. The situation grew worse when he didn't take any accountability for his part. Hate against him kept the mountain on, because of which he joined a live-streamed therapy session with Dr. K.
In the session, the doctor called him out, stating,
“My understanding of the situation is that you were kind of an ass about something involving a WoW raid, and then my guess is that you were kind of an ass with the way that you responded to it. Because you’re really good at being an ass.”
To which Pirate replied, “I think sometimes the things I talk about in regards to these types of things [are] misconstrued as arrogance or boasting, when in reality, I’m just trying to give context."
“So, that is the problem right there,” Dr. K answered. “I wanted you to listen to this phrase: ‘This gets misconstrued as arrogance, but in reality, it’s this.’ That is the most arrogant statement on the planet, bro. Like, tell me I’m wrong.”
Throughout this interaction, Alok felt that the streamer was dismissive and arrogant, making the consensus that he is not willing to understand and take responsibility.
Fans react to Dr. K's comments
The internet was divided over the two creators, while some supported Pirate Software and his views, others thought Alok's comments were relevant and unprofessional.
One user commented,
"Pirate Software is the biggest mystery in streaming. Never says anything smart. He’s not good at games, and yet commands a big audience. Why?"
Another came to the streamer's defence, "Mad rizz, amazing voice, gorgeous hair, explains things well, generally from what I’ve seen, interesting enough of a mind to want to listen to him."
"Every hardcore or veteran World of Warcraft player struggles with this issue, and I avoid them whenever possible. Yet, that doctor calling him arrogant on a live stream considers it professional?" a netizen also commented.
While one person commented in support of the Dr, "He’s a licensed professional, he’s allowed to tell him what he puts out into the world. That’s the point."
While another user has a more aggressive reaction to the interaction, "Perfect example of someone who looks at intent and views that as the truth. This idiot psychologist is the one who is the fool as he doesn’t care about the truth as a value, he cares about perception which is fucking irrelevant when you know the truth. This is blindingly clear."
In the end, the advice that the doctor gave was that he essentially needs to mind the language of his responses and think before he speaks.
