Rapper Mello Buckzz's father, Melvin Doyle was arraigned on federal firearms charges on July 8. As per federal officials, Melvin Doyle illegally sold 13 guns since May 20 to confidential informants working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Doyle's arraignment comes days after the Chicago drive-by shooting incident outside his daughter's EP release party on July 2. Buckzz had thrown a party for the release of her new album, Hollyhood EP, when a vehicle with three people drove by outside Artis Restaurant and Lounge in River North, where attendees had gathered.
A law enforcement source reported to CWBChicago that investigators found no evidence that Doyle's alleged gun sales were in connection with the July 2 shooting, whereas another source confirmed that Doyle is Mello's father.
As per a federal complaint filed on July 7, the ATF launched an investigation based on information received from a confidential informant, and Doyle's associate, of three others. The informant along with two others had worked with agents to document a series of gun purchases from Doyle.
As per the informants, the first gun sale of a purple .40-caliber Glock pistol for $800 was made on May 20. Doyle also allegedly mentioned during the meeting that the gun was his personal weapon and he had plans to travel to Alabama with five more firearms to sell.
On May 29, Melvin sold 9mm Glock Pistols for $1,200, and on June 24, he sold a multi-caliber rifle and two pistols for $3,800, before selling four pistols and a 12-gauge shotgun for $5,000 on July 1, and three more pistols for $3,000 on July 7.
