The Labubu doll mania has grown from its humble beginnings as a little-known designer toy. In 2015, Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung created these humorous “monster elves” for the first time. Since then, celebrities and fans alike have become obsessed. Dua Lipa and Lizzo are just two of the famous personalities recently seen wearing or carrying Labubus, making the toy one of the most coveted items of 2025.

Pop Mart in China sells plush toys in blind boxes, with Labubu as the primary character. Labubu has a funny yet somewhat sinister design inspired by Nordic folktales. It features a round, hairy body, huge eyes, pointed ears, and a creepy grin with nine sharp teeth.

Celebrities who have joined the viral Labubu Doll craze

Since Labubu blind boxes were introduced at Pop Mart in 2019, collectors have been drawn to the thrill of finding something rare. Dua Lipa wore a Gucci belt bag with a pastel-pink Labubu keychain to Paris Fashion Week in April 2025.

Lizzo, the pop-rap star, later referenced Labubu in her remix of Whim Whamiee. The doll appeared in the music video wearing a blue bucket hat and overalls.

Also in April 2025, Lisa posted a photo on Instagram of herself hugging a giant Labubu from the Fall in Wild series. She also showed off the viral keychain on her Kaith Elena handbag at Paris Fashion Week.

Shortly after Lisa’s post, her Instagram Story featured a photo of Rosé at Lisa’s home with a Labubu from the Exciting Macaron series in the Sea Salt Coconut shade displayed on a shelf.

In May 2025, during her trip to the UK, the former first lady of the Philippines was seen with multiple pastel-pink Labubu bag charms on her Hermès Birkin and Kelly bags.

Thai model and actress Araya has been spotted several times carrying high-end purses adorned with the rare Exciting Macaron and Chestnut Cocoa Labubu charms—secret variations released once every seventy-two days.

Singaporean socialite Jamie Chua and Hermès and Lancaster Gelato Ily owner Jeanette Aw have also accessorized their handbags with charms of the plush toy, sharing close-up shots on Instagram.

Heart Evangelista added a limited-edition Halloween Party Labubu to her Lancaster bag in the Philippines. Marian Rivera paired a Labubu x Pronounce figure with her Loro Piana tote, while Kathryn Bernardo attached a Pronounce collaboration figure to her Alaïa purse.

Thai actor Mario Maurer posted an Instagram photo of himself in his signature leather jacket, clutching a bespoke Labubu x Mario plush.

Labubu Dolls break auction records and dominate 2025 trends

One of the 48 Labubu lots auctioned at the Yongle International Auction in Beijing on June 10, 2025, included a record-breaking 4-foot-tall turquoise figure that sold for more than $170,000. Even key-ring and children’s versions of the toy have fetched six-figure prices in local currencies, underscoring its popularity across art, fashion, and collectibles.

The dolls have become the definitive toy accessory of 2025—appearing in the hands and bags of global superstars and in Kasing Lung’s original “monster elf” artwork. Celebrity endorsements have only added to the mystique of the doll, driving record-breaking bids and viral unboxing videos around the world.
