Lil Baby just released his ranking of the top five Atlanta rappers, and fans are not amused.
The rapper sat down for an interview on Deep Cuts with Vic Blends and reflected on who he thinks are the best rappers in the city. “That's hard because I don't know how to rank myself," he admitted, so he placed himself in the fifth position. As for the remaining four, he put Playboi Carti in fourth place, 21 Savage in third, and Young Thug in second. The first place went to his frequent collaborator, Future.
"Future, Slime, Savage then Carti. For sure."
However, fans have since begun reacting with their own opinions, as several of them felt like the list could use some tweaking. Here's what one user said, for instance:
"Future over Young thug is criminal"
The comments didn't end there:
"that’s a fair ranking," someone agreed wholeheartedly.
"Switch savage with Carti and this list is perfect," another opined.
"carti over 21 and he right," yet another echoed.
Even more chimed in to point out the flaws in his ranking:
"He forgot to rank Gunna that taught him How to rap," a third person noted.
"Carti above any of the Migos is criminal. Bang on with Future tho," someone penned on X.
"Thugga, Gunna, Future, Offset. No never dropping his Album worth of Top 5 and even if he dropped it. He’s not as good as the ones mentioned. He is really not it!! At least the other rappers prof that they can rap their lyrics on stage," another tweeted.
It seems like the fans were divided about the ranking, as a few supported his listing and the others suggested how it should have been.
"This is the correct list btw," an X user claimed.
Scores online had varying opinions, though a handful did laud Lil Baby for accurately ranking the rappers.
Lil Baby says he would never work with snitches because he can't rap with them
Several users online did diss Lil Baby for failing to mention his former friend, Gunna. However, as reported by Hot New Hip Hop, the two had a falling out when the latter was presumed to be a tattletale. And so, while Baby has yet to speak out on the situation openly, he did allude to never working with him again on the A Safe Place podcast.
"It boils down to what we rapping about… We can't rap about that if you did that. If I was making Christmas music, then I don't give a damn what you did."
As for his decision to name Future on top, the two are rumored to be working on some new music together, including a full-length collab.
"Me and Future was working on a joint tape," he told Spotify in January. "We damn near got the joint tape done. Now [Thug] came home and he ain’t going for that. He like, 'Sh*t. And it actually [was] Thug’s idea."
In other news, Lil Baby is currently preparing to hit the road for his WHAM World Tour, which will commence in Houston, Texas, on June 3, 2025.
