Kpop group Aespa enters the gaming space.
K-pop sensation Aespa is now collaborating with the Krafton battle royale video game PUBG. Though the collaboration might seem unexpected, K-pop has been part of the gaming space for quite a while, with groups and idols creating theme songs. For example, New Jeans released GODS for League of Legends, Perfect Night by Le Sserafim for Overwatch 2, and more. Aespa’s collaboration with a video game platform aligns with the group’s established theme and concept.
The four-member group, comprising Karina, Winter, Giselle, and NingNing, is known for its futuristic concept. When their concept was first revealed in 2020, at the time of their debut, there were quite a lot of elements of AI, multiple dimensions, avatars, and more. While the group’s concept is complex, it incorporates elements commonly associated with science fiction and futuristic themes.
All the members have a virtual counterpart that exists in another dimension known as the FLAT: æ-Karina, æ-Winter, æ-Giselle, and æ-NingNing. The “æ” represents them and is pronounced as “eyes.” The girls and their avatars are connected by something called SYNK, and it’s how they switch dimensions. In their songs, they mention KWANGYA, which is a realm between the REAL WORLD and the FLAT. And as for “BLACK MAMBA,” which is also the name of their debut single, it refers to a mysterious villain who causes disruption between the FLAT and the REAL WORLD.
No further details have been released about the collaboration. However, PUBG has expressed that this “collision of two universes” will be taking place on July 9.

"I love how Pubg keeps collaborating with females kpop groups but never males Kpop groups"
Another supported the group by commenting,
"aespa stays booked and busy. they are recognised by both korean and global brands further proving their undeniable impact"

This is not the first time the group has collaborated with gaming companies. In the past, they have collaborated with Capcom’s Street Fighter 6, Pokémon Go, Eternal Return, and more, all in different capacities.
