Legendary designer Giorgio Armani has passed away at the age of 91. His death was confirmed in a statement shared by his company, which read,

"With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani."

The brand's official Instagram shared that Armani,

"worked until his final days, dedicating himself to the company, the collections and the many ongoing future projects" and added that he was "indefatigable to the end".

Giorgio pioneered combining the design flair with the acumen of a businessman, running a company that turned over 2.3 billion euros ($2.7 billion) a year, per multiple outlets.

He was known as "Re Giorgio" - King Giorgio and was famously involved in every aspect of his creations, from advertising to fixing models' hair as they head out onto the runway. With his vast business acumen, he turned what started as just a fashion company into music, sports, and even luxury hotels.

According to the company, a funeral chamber will be set up on Saturday and Sunday in Milan, followed by a private funeral at an unspecified date.
