Astronomer's newly appointed CEO, Pete DeJoy, is getting dragged on social media days after former CEO Andy Byron's scandal.

DeJoy took to X a day ago to laud his company for handling the aftermath of the Byron and the company's Head of HR, Kristin Cabot's Coldplay scandal. While he didn't directly address the debacle, he did allude to it and also referenced Gwyneth Paltrow's newest video as the company's interim spokesperson.

For context, Chris Martin was the one to inadvertently unveil the affair, and he was previously married to Paltrow. They also share two kids.

"As Gwyneth Paltrow said, now it's time for us to return to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our customers. We look forward to what this next chapter holds for Astronomer," DeJoy wrote, in part.

However, fans have since begun slamming Astronomer's newest CEO, and one comment under his LinkedIn post read:

"I actually saw a post on here earlier today, criticizing the choice of Gwyneth, stating "her only claim to relevancy was being married to Coldplay´s frontman"... when I tell you my blood boiled (and the fact that it was a woman who posted this is even worse!) Paltrow has proven she is a savvy businesswoman and entrepreneur, who knows what it takes to keep a company going, albeit temporarily. The fact that she clearly has a sense of humor, too, bonus. Good on you for weeding out the bad seeds, and determining to focus forward, on the good and better yet to be. Nothing else to be done, but determine, and drive, forward. Learning..." one user defended.

"This is so tone deaf. I am so confused by anyone thinking this should be applauded or was a good idea? Hoping the wife of your CEO is having paid therapy sessions from part of this 'campaign'. Ew," another slammed the CEO.

Scores online also began questioning if the entire debacle was a PR stunt to drive engagement for Astronomer, though the company has yet to address these claims.

Pete DeJoy gives a subtle reaction to former CEO Andy Byron's cheating scandal:

In his statement on LinkedIn, Pete DeJoy said:

"I’ve always believed that character shines brightest in tough moments. Last week, the Astronomer crew proved that in full color. They supported our customers, each other, and our mission without missing a beat. I’m deeply grateful to work alongside such thoughtful, driven people. So, to all of our employees at Astronomer: thank you for showing what great teams are made of. Your character and commitment do not go unnoticed. I’d also like to thank the team at Maximum Effort for their remarkable work with our very temporary spokesperson."

As reported by Page Six, Pete DeJoy had a thinly veiled reaction to Byron's cheating scandal. He reportedly liked a post on LinkedIn, which was shared by the former vice president of technology and operations at Astronomer, Zachary Hensley. In it, he conceded,

“Yes, I’ve laughed at the memes.”

However, he also opened up about being torn up about the fiasco:

“But I also know Astronomer is more than one moment or one person. It’s a team of smart, kind, driven people doing incredible work. And I’ll always be rooting for them.”

He also noted that despite the slew of memes and having shared a few of those himself, he “felt a strange mix of pride, nostalgia, and whiplash” before raving about his former company, where he worked from 2019 to 2024. He concluded with a note to his old team:

“To the Astronomer crew—past and present—I love y’all. Keep going. Keep building. You’ve got this.”

As for Pete DeJoy, his LinkedIn indicates that he has been working at Astronomer for eight years, and his last role was as chief product officer. In the past, he worked as the president of product, and is also the co-founder of the company.
