Kick is stirring the pot with the controversy surrounding HasanAbi in one of its latest ads.

The streaming platform dropped a new ad this week, featuring a photo of a brown dog in front of a bolt of lightning. It's caption, however, is what has fans buzzing:

"A shockingly good streaming app. p.s. no dogs were harmed in the making of this ad."

The ad is seemingly a reference to allegations that HasanAbi, aka Hasan Piker, used a shock collar on his dog. The rumor first surfaced during a livestream, when his dog was seen yelping.

The ad has since found its way on X, where scores online are poking fun at the streamer and streaming platform. Here's how one user reacted, for instance:

"Hasan is never gonna escape this"

The comments didn't end there:

"Kick won't allow animal abuse, however it's perfectly OK with life threatening pranks," one user remarked.
"They should pay Hasan for this ad," someone else suggested.
"Kick has a sense of humor," another opined.
"Kick has no chill at all," a fourth user quipped.

See how the rest of X is reacting:

"Love or hate them this is a good ad," one user penned.
"It's f*cking over for Hasan. Total cultural death," someone else remarked.
"Atleast the kick team has a sense of humor and isn’t owned by advertisers," another chimed in.
"lmfaooo w kick," yet another weighed in.

The allegations of animal abuse against HasanAbi explored:

HasanAbi has repeatedly refuted allegations of animal abuse, Forbes has reported. He claimed his dog, Kaya, wears a training collar that vibrates. It allegedly has an AirTag in it, and during the incident in question, she accidentally “clipped herself” while getting up from the bed, prompting a yelp.

However, streamers and netizens online have been dissecting the clip of his dog yelping anyway. Some claim there's a blinking green light that's characteristic of a shock collar. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) said:

“Hasan Piker has denied using a shock collar on his dog, and we hope that’s true because shock collars are dangerous and downright cruel. They put dogs at risk of burn wounds, chronic anxiety, and displaced aggression.” PETA added, “positive reinforcement is a far more effective training method and doesn’t betray our animal companions’ trust in us.”

The Twitch streamer is most known for his takes on politics, video games, and general pop culture. He first made his debut in mainstream media as a host on The Young Turks before he began streaming full-time. HasanAbi now boasts 3 million followers on Twitch and millions more across his other social media channels.
