One of America’s most well-known news presenters, David Muir, recently gave an interview to People Magazine. The anchor of ABC World News Tonight and 20/20 spoke about his off-camera life, his dog, and a lot more. Muir also remarked on the “daddy” status he has received on TikTok and other social media platforms. According to People Magazine, the journalist laughed before saying,

“People will forward TikTok videos, but only because they are laughing out loud at them and making fun of me and saying, 'When did you become Daddy?' So I don't know whether that happens when you hit 50 or what, but I'll take it as a compliment, I think.”

He continued,

“Anyone who works with me knows that I am so uncomfortable even having to put on the tux. So the fact that I survive those events is still a surprise to me without looking like a total nerd… So maybe it's lost on me, but I guess Daddy's better than the alternative.”

Internet reacts after David Muir addresses the “daddy” tag he earned on social media

The 20/20 co-anchor, who is turning 52 in November, has seemingly aged like fine wine, at least that’s what many on social media believe. As mentioned in a recent interview with People Magazine, David Muir talked about being called daddy in TikTok edits and other social media platforms. After the news presenter remarked on the label, many netizens shared their opinion on X.

“Gurl! You're hot, that’s why. They’re out here calling 25-year-olds ‘daddy’ now too!,” a user said.
“Indeed wish my problems were like this. SMH,” another user added.
“Anyways.. Daddy chill it’s not that serious,” someone wrote.
“Hahaha, definitely a compliment, David! You've officially reached peak "zaddy" status. 😎😂,” another one declared.

A user referenced the alleged incident of David Muir using a clothespin on camera while reporting on the LA fires, which garnered him online backlash.

“Also David Muir before he goes on live to address his new daddy status.”

Another user joked,

“50 and still causing chaos? daddy energy never fades 😏🔥”

Someone wrote,

“he’s been daddy for years, it has nothing to do with being 50 daddy”

While Muir acknowledged being referred to as daddy on the internet, he also proclaimed that his dog Axel gets more love. The journalist told People Magazine,

“I have a dog walker who has been with me for six years now. And so I love the stories of even when the dog walker is out in public, people will say, 'Is that David Muir's dog?' It kind of puts it all in perspective. The dog is always the most important. I think [he's] more [famous].”

David said that his dog “deserves to be” more famous. He also added that Axel being unaware of his popularity “makes it even more special.”
