Businessman and YouTuber, MrBeast, aka James Stephen Donaldson, has recently made headlines for his Team Water campaign, which aims to provide clean water to people.

On September 1, Dexerto shared an X post, writing that the YouTuber has achieved the $40 million fundraising goal for the initiative.

Social media users appreciated Donaldson, and one X user commented:

“He's doing way more than what the government does.”

Similarly, one more user shared similar sentiments about the news, saying:

“Crazy how it takes a YouTuber to do what governments should’ve done decades ago.”

Another netizen compared him to Elon Musk and wrote:

“Mr Beast and Elon musk are humanity saviours.”

One user remarked that MrBeast used his influence for good, mentioning:

“When influence is used for actual good, it's incredible. 2 million lives changed in just one month.”

Another X user echoed the same, claiming:

“Incredible what can happen when influence is used for real impact. This is the kind of content creator success story we need to see more of - actually changing lives instead of just chasing views.”

One X user raised a question about sustainability, asking:

“Hope will it be sustainable for 20 years?”

Others seemed suspicious about the time and money, as one online commentator wrote:

“40 million for only 2 million people? Something isn't mathing.”

MrBeast opens up about the Team Water mission

In August 2025, MrBeast and Mark Rober sat down with Today to discuss their Team Water fundraising goal. When asked about the initiative, James said he wanted to help 2 million people get clean water for decades. The host then asked how he got the idea about taking such a step, and he said:

“So, we do this thing where every couple of years we get all the biggest creators on the internet to just talk about something and educate their audience on why it's important. And this go around it's water.”

MrBeast went on:

“And so, we had over a thousand YouTubers a couple days ago upload videos about water and educate their audience on why it's important and tell them where to donate. And so right now just every dollar we fundraise, we are working with a charity called Water Aid, gives a year of clean water to someone in need.”

Mark Rober said that they had a goal of raising $40 million. When asked how he created his stunts, MrBeast explained that he had been making videos for 14 years and kept notebooks full of ideas. Since he only filmed about 26 videos each year, he had plenty to choose from.

He said his fans enjoyed seeing him go through tough challenges, so he once stayed buried underground in a coffin for seven days, spent seven days alone in a small room, and even survived on an island. Along with these stunts, he also dug wells in Africa and helped feed people in need.
