Fans can't stop poking fun at Damson Idris' fashion choices at this year's Met Gala.
The English actor showed up at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York this year clad in a helmet and a fully suited APXGP racing outfit, which is a nod to his forthcoming F1 film, where he stars alongside Brad Pitt. At one point on the red carpet, however, in one fell swoop, his team tore off his suit, which boasted 20,000 Swarovski crystals, to reveal a custom-made Tommy Hilfiger tuxedo.
Fans have since begun reacting to the clip with amusement and humor, with some even comparing him to iconic fashion content creator Wisdom Kaye. Here's what one user penned on X, for instance:
"he thinks he's wisdom Kaye"
The comments didn't end there:
"For the last 6 years I’ve been wearing two outfits at all times (even when I sleep) just in case I ever find myself in a situation where this could happen. Hoping it pays off one day like it did for whoever this guy is," someone jokingly penned.
"Between him & Gaga, I don’t know who’s better," another opined.
"bro thinks he did something cool LMAOOOO," one user chimed in.
"so much for nothing at the end," a fourth user added.
Even more chimed in to opine:
"should have rode in on a bike but he looks good and the helmet is very pretty," one user shared.
"Damson idris a great showman," someone else chimed in.
"that face card will never decline," another added.
"This man so damn fineeeeeeeeeeeee," a fan gushed.
Sentiments were visibly divided, though a large number of users also gushed over how good the up-and-coming actor looked.
Damson Idris gushes over F1 legend Lewis Hamilton: Read more
Damson Idris, 33, was seemingly making a statement with his outfit.
“We’re excited to partner with the highly anticipated film, ‘F1,’” said Tommy Hilfiger. “Damson Idris stars as Joshua Piere, a driver for the fictional APXGP team, and we wanted the Met Gala entrance to reflect the same cinematic energy."
The actor also met up with seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, who doubled as the co-chair of this year's gala. During a recent IWC event, the actor reflected on learning under Hamilton's hand:
“There’s no better person to teach you about F1 than Lewis Hamilton," he said. "They put me behind the wheel... but it's unlike anything that we're doing right now."
