Heidi Klum is the official queen of Halloween, breaking her own standards every year with her elaborate costumes. Here is a look back at some of her most jaw-dropping looks.

Halloween is upon us, which means it’s time for the much-awaited Halloween Party hosted by model Heidi Klum every year. It also means it’s time for the much-anticipated reveal of the costume she’ll be wearing. Klum is known for her very memorable, intricate, and avant-garde costumes and has never really shied away from taking up the challenge. Each year, she tries to break the standard, which she probably created herself, with her over-the-top costumes, leaving social media buzzing with reactions at the look and guessing what next year will be like.
Heidi Klum's iconic Halloween costumes
Halloween is basically the German model’s own Met Gala, and over the years, she has recreated quite a few stunning yet frankly bizarre costumes, including a werewolf, a giant peacock, and Fiona from Shrek.
She even took things to the next level by transforming into a worm! Here is a look at some of her most memorable costumes.
Goddess Kali, 2008

For her 9th Annual Halloween Party, Heidi Klum paid homage to Hindu mythology by dressing up as the Goddess of Destruction, Kali. In a respectful portrayal, she wore a bright blue bodysuit with extra arms attached to it and adorned the look with gold jewels. Her husband at the time, Seal, accompanied her dressed as a warrior.
"Bodies" Cadaver, 2011
In 2011, Klum took a turn for the gory when she dressed as a dead body that was skinned down to blood, bones, and beyond. The look basically made her resemble a Titan from the anime Attack on Titan. In her words:
"It's kind of like a dead body with the first layer of skin ripped off," Heidi told People. "It’s basically like me naked."
Cleopatra, 2012

2012 was the year when Hurricane Sandy hit New York City right before Halloween. Klum had teased a Cleopatra look beforehand, but she decided to postpone her party to December out of respect for the victims. In December, she showcased a grand, elevated version of her look, complete with hundreds of crystals applied to her face.
Butterfly, 2014

Spending five hours in a makeup chair, in 2014 Heidi Klum metamorphosed into a butterfly. The idea came after she told E! News, “Someone very special to my heart called me a Schmetterling [German word for butterfly], so I wanted to be a butterfly this year.”
She was then spotted fluttering around Times Square with wings almost twice her size.
Heidi Clones, 2016

Heidi was dressed in a surprisingly simple beige outfit with thigh-high boots and a bodysuit in 2016. That was because she had five clones of herself dressed the same, accompanying her. The model was walking around with an entourage of herself. It was a playful take on celebrating herself.
Worm and Fisherman, 2022

The thing about Klum and her legendary costumes is that there is a clear spectrum. She tends to choose either playful, eye-catching looks or a darkly creative or horror-inspired choices.
And 2022 was just like that when she took the phrase “the early bird catches the worm” quite seriously by becoming, not just dressing up as, but actually becoming a worm. She was spotted lying on the carpet and wiggling to give full justice to her costume, which apparently took 12 hours to apply. Her husband Tom was the fisherman who used her as bait, giving full effect to the costume.
E.T., 2024

And of course, how can we forget 2024’s Heidiween, when she and her husband dressed up as E.T. from Steven Spielberg’s 1982 movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. She, however, took it one step further and “Heidi-fied” the look with blonde hair and blue eyes.
She said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon:
"I loved being E.T. so much. It was so heavy holding that head on my head because it goes from the back to the front. I thought my neck was going to snap off.”
Another Heidiween has come and gone, and now we wait 364 days to see what she will do next.
