Bethany MaGee was the victim of a heinous attack on Chicago’s L train on November 17. While on her regular commute, MaGee was approached from behind by an attacker, doused in highly flammable liquid, and chased until he was able to set her on fire. The 26-year-old was seemingly picked at random by her attacker, later identified as Lawrence Reed, a documented repeat offender with a lengthy criminal record.

In the latest development regarding Bethany MaGee's near-death experience, President Donald Trump weighed in on the situation in a recent media session,

“They burned this beautiful woman riding in a train. A man was arrested 72 times. 72 times think about that. And they let him out again, the liberal judges will let him out again”

President Trump would go on to say,

“We’ve been moving toward Chicago. We have a governor who thinks it’s wonderful that only like 7 people were killed this week. It's horrible what's happening in Chicago."

Bethany MaGee survived the incident.

Bethany MaGee - Family’s efforts post-attack

In light of Bethany MaGee's fatal incident, her family has set up a GoFundMe page to seek financial aid as it pertains to her recovery.

The page explains that,

“She is currently hospitalized with the severe burns she sustained, and she is receiving treatment under the excellent care of her medical team. In response to the countless requests for a way to help, our family is setting up this GoFundMe on Bethany’s behalf.”

It also goes on to request respect for Bethany’s right to her privacy and personal space for the time being, and until she is ready to speak on the incident for herself.

“We also want to do what we can to respect her privacy. This will be her story to tell—or not to tell—in the future. We ask that we not be contacted with media inquiries or requests for further information or medical updates, as our priority at this time is making sure that we love Bethany well and give her the support she needs.”

Before signing off on their humble request for assistance at a trying time, the family spoke to their daughter’s character, as well, stating:

“What we can say is this: Bethany is a beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law, granddaughter, niece, and aunt. She is a good friend. She is sensitive, caring, intelligent, and imaginative.”

As of this report $137,391 has been raised in total.
