Reply 1988 actor Choi Sung Won updates fans on his long battle with leukemia. Recently, the actor shared several pictures on his Instagram account, captioned "July-August". Despite changes from the past, the actor sported a radiant smile.

Actor Choi Sung Won has been on his long path to recovery from his battle with leukemia, and he has been sharing his progress with his fans through social media. The 40-year-old has been posting monthly dumps on Instagram since May to share tidbits from his life, from sporting events, delicious food, and activities around Seoul. He showcased his active lifestyle, where he has been attending performances and visiting Cheonggyecheon in Seoul.

The actor was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 because after which he had to halt his career. However, he was declared cancer-free in the same year and continued with his career in 2017.

In 2020, he went into treatment again, after a transplant operation, and after about two years of treatment, he was declared completely cured again in 2023, making this year his second year in remission. Throughout, fans have shown him support and sent him well-wishes for his recovery.


Who is Choi Sung Won?

Choi Sung Won was born in 1985, performed in the 2007 musical 'Oh!' however, he made his debut on TV on the K-drama While You Were Sleeping. From then on, he did quite a few roles; however, he received fame from his iconic role of Sung No Eul, who is the main character Deok-sun's younger brother, played by Hyeri, younger brother in the cult classic drama Reply 1988.

Since then, Sung Prison Playbook, Gangnam Beauty, Psychopath Diary, Big Issue, No Path Back, films such as Asura: The City of Madness, and even stage productions such as The Goddess and Trace U. Last year, he made his on-screen comeback with the TVING original series Pyramid Game, where he played the role of homeroom teacher Im Joo Hyung.
