Kick streamer Raphael Graven, commonly known as Jean Pormanove or JP, died on August 18, 2025, in Contes, a village in Nice, France.

According to The Guardian, an investigation has been started regarding the death of the 46-year-old streamer who reportedly took his last breath during a live-streaming event on Kick, which is an Australian online platform quite similar to Twitch. Pormanove's video was initially screened live on Kick, but later it was shared on various social media platforms.

As per The Guardian, the Prosecutors' office in Nice informed that a serious investigation is already in progress to find out the cause of Jean Pormanove's death, as it is still unknown. The Prosecutors' office also ordered an autopsy.

Jean Pormanove, who had been streaming on Kick since May 2023, gained millions of followers within a short period on various social media platforms. According to the Lad Bible, JP, who primarily created gaming content, was also involved in creating content that can be described as "humiliation streams."

As reported by Lad Bible, a French minister stated that he suffered "extreme violence" as in his earlier streams, he was seen being physically abused, which included slapping, choking, and things being thrown at him.

As per the Lad Bible, local reports mentioned that Jean Pormanove, who had been a part of a 10-day marathon stream on Kick, was found after being tortured, ingesting toxic substances, and lack of sleep. Days before JP's unfortunate death, earlier reports stated that he informed his mother via text messages that he felt like he was "being held hostage," primarily for hosting the 10-day Kick live stream.

When it came to streaming or creating content, most of JP's time was spent collaborating with creators Owen Cenazandotti, commonly known as Naruto, and Safine Hamadi, commonly known as Safine. Following JP's unexpected death, the French authorities are reportedly investigating both Naruto and Safine.

According to the Lad Bible, JP's co-creators, Naruto and Safine, were previously arrested by police in January 2025 on suspicion of spreading videos of violence against vulnerable individuals. However, they were eventually released from police custody.

Naruto took to his Instagram to break the news of JP's death and honored him, whom he considers his "brother, sidekick, partner". He also urged JP's followers to show respect and asked them not to reshare any videos showing him dead. On the other hand, Safine also took to social media, noting he "can’t believe it" as he said Graven had been "a part of my life for six years."

Safine further added:

"We’ve laughed together for six years, we’ve given each other blow after blow… Six years of memories. I’ll miss you. I love you. Rest in peace, my brother."

Natuto's lawyer, Yassin Sadouni, told Le Monde:

"We are awaiting the results of the investigation aimed at determining all the conditions of 'JP's' death and identifying the responsibilities of each person."

Sadouni told AFP (Agence France-Presse):

"My client bears no responsibility for this death."

Renowned rapper Drake and popular streamer Adin Ross to take care of JP's funeral. After news of JP's death broke out, American online streamer and internet personality Adin Ross took to his X (formerly Twitter) account, announcing that he and Drake would pay for Pormanove's funeral. Ross wrote on X:

"I just spoke with Drake. Drake and I will be covering the funeral costs, this won’t bring his life back, it’s the least we can do. Prayers go out to Jean’s family."
