More about Debby Ryan and Josh Dun's relationship
Debby Ryan began dating Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun in 2013. In a 2018 Instagram tribute for Dun's birthday, Ryan gave a glimpse into their first date,
"Thanks for learning how to tie a bowtie for our first date and everything we've figured out together since. You were only 24 here, before I dyed your hair and you taught me love."
On September 23, 2013, Dun made their relationship Instagram official. The two got engaged on December 22, 2018, after Dun proposed to the former Disney star during a getaway to New Zealand. In a social media post at the time, Debby, while opening up about the engagement, said,
"My dude asked me on a date. I said yeah becuase I always want to go on dates with him. Then he asked me to be his dude forever. He does things well, and right. His timing has pressed us and never failed us."
A year after their engagement, the couple secretly tied the knot on New Year’s Eve 2019 in Austin, Texas. Although they kept the wedding under wraps for several months, Ryan later shared a series of black-and-white photos on Instagram. Their marriage was officially confirmed in a Vogue interview in May 2020, accompanied by additional wedding photos. Reflecting on the ceremony, Dun said,
"The ceremony was the perfect balance. I felt like it was game night at our house, and this was the ultimate game, and boy, did I win! I remember every detail from how it felt to be walking down the aisle to the full-body chills I got watching Debby walk down toward me."
In May 2021, the two made their red carpet debut as a married couple at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles.
