Misa Hylton, who had been in a relationship with Sean "Diddy" Combs from the early 1990s until their breakup in 1993, was seen last week appearing in court at the trial of the music mogul, who is currently facing charges of s*x trafficking and transportation, among others.

The current trial against Sean Diddy Combs is part of a federal lawsuit to investigate his alleged links to organized s*x trafficking. In 2023, Cassie Ventura, who previously dated the music producer, filed a civil lawsuit, alleging years of abuse. According to CNN, the lawsuit was quickly settled out of court, but several other women soon brought forward similar charges. In March 2024, Homeland Security raided several of Diddy's homes, and later, in September, he was arrested and has since been held at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in New York.

More about Misa Hylton and Sean Diddy Combs' relationship, as designer is seen at Court

Misa Hylton appeared in court last week on Monday and Tuesday, at the beginning of the trial. She had previously suffered an injury and was seen using the help of a walker to enter the courtroom. On 18 May, she posted on Instagram, explaining the reason she decided to appear in court. She said that she was there at the request of her son, writing:

"Yes, I'm good everyone I'm on my healing journey. When I suffered my injury I had chosen to heal privately but when my son said ‘Mommy I need you’ I was right there for him walker and all. I'm a MOTHER FIRST, FOR REAL and I am my son's strength and thats[sic] just what it is. Plain and Simple.”

She further added:

"Let's start being real people who do real things again. Every moment isn't a glamour moment, your best highlight reel, some moments are as down to the bone as you could ever in your life imagine. Layered and complex.”

Misa Hylton first met Sean Diddy Combs in the early 1990s, even before he achieved fame. The two began dating, and in December 1993, the couple welcomed their son, Justin Dior Combs. According to People Magazine, although they broke up soon after this, they remained on good terms while raising their son together.

During her 2018 appearance on The Premium Pete Show, Hylton, who has two other children from her marriage to JoJo Brim, reminisced about her time with Diddy, adding that she always believed he would one day be successful but never expected the magnitude of it. She said,

"I knew that he could have what he has now, I just didn’t know what it would look like.”

In another part of the interview, she added that despite everything they had been through, they remained close friends for their son. She said,

"We’ve had our ups and downs and our fights too and we had our rough patches, but I think ultimately it’s always about the children,

In a 2023 interview with BET Networks, Misa Hylton credited Diddy with helping her launch her career. She recounted how he helped her land her first job, saying:

"We were dating at the time and he had just went from intern to A&R. He had a new position at Uptown Records and he was in charge of putting together the album musically but also for their look. That look took off, it went crazy and it sort of set the tone for how male R&B singers would dress and how they would look going forward. It really shook up the industry.”

According to People Magazine, despite her close friendship with Sean Diddy Combs, Misa Hylton posted a series of pictures of the extended Combs family shortly after the video of the "I'll Be Missing You" singer brutally beating Cassie Ventura at the InterContinental Hotel in L.A. surfaced. She wrote in the caption of the now-deleted post, saying:

"I am heartbroken that Cassie must relive the horror of her abuse, and my heart goes out to her. I know exactly how she feels, and through my empathy, it has triggered my own trauma."

She further added:

"These young people were raised by women that want the best for them – we put God and education first and have always been united in our mutual effort to support their dreams. Two of the youngest do not have their mother here and it has been our duty to support them."

In March 2024, soon after authorities raided Diddy's home in L.A., they handcuffed Christian Combs, who is the son of Diddy and ex-girlfriend Kim Potter, as well as Justin Combs. This prompted Misa Hylton to criticize the situation in a now-deleted Instagram post. She wrote:

"The [force] used against my sons Justin and Christian is deplorable. If these were the sons of a non-Black celebrity, they would not have been handled with the same aggression. The attempt to humiliate and terrorize these innocent young BLACK MEN is despicable!”

Misa Hylton's son, Justin Combs, has been present at court along with other members of the family. He had previously even made a statement claiming his father's innocence.
