D4vd or David Anthony Burke was dropped from Crocs and Hollister's brand campaigns after the Los Angeles Police Department found a body inside Burke's impounded Tesla at a tow yard in Hollywood. As per ABC News, the vehicle was registered under the singer's name.
In a joint statement shared with Footwear News on September 9, Crocs and Hollister said,
"We are aware of this developing story. With respect to the current situation, we have removed campaign content featuring D4vd while the investigation continues."
The campaign, which was initially released on September 3 and was a part of Crocs and Hollister's collaboration, featured the singer modelling the brands' Dream Drop collection. The collection reflected Gen Z's love for Y2K aesthetics, cozy textures, and functional fashion.
However, after the incident, images featuring the singer are no longer on the brand's websites, while the campaign and the collection are available online.
Human remains found inside D4vd's impounded Tesla
As per Los Angeles Times and ABC 7, police responded to a call at around 12:20 p.m. on September 8, after workers at a tow yard found:
"foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard."
Detectives found possible human remains and proceeded to launch a death investigation.
After checking, police found a bag in the front trunk holding a head and torso. As per the L.A Times, the LAPD had found a second set of human remains in another tow yard this week.
As per ABC 7 Eyewitness News, the 2023 Tesla is registered in Hempstead, Texas, to 20-year-old David Anthony Burke.
The singer gained recognition after he first broke out on TikTok in 2022. He released his debut album Withered in April 2025 and is currently on tour. A deluxe version of his album Withered is set to be released on September 19. The singer also has billions of streams on Spotify and has previously opened for well-known industry figures, including SZA on her S.O.S tour and at the Valentino men's spring 2024 Fashion Week show in Milan.
Law enforcement has yet to identify the body. As per law enforcement sources' statement to NBC,
"identification is going to be delayed"
because of how much the victim's body has decomposed. A spokesperson for the singer, while speaking to NBC News, noted that D4vd
"has been informed about what's happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities."
As of this writing, there has been no comment from the young crooner on the issue.
